Three members of the Papuan KKB were shot dead by a joint team after killing a motorcycle taxi driver
PAPUA - After shooting residents in Papua, three members of the Papuan Armed Criminal Group (KKB) died in pursuit.
They died after being shot by a joint TNI-Polri team after the shooting of the motorcycle taxi driver they carried out.
The joint TNI-Polri team pursued the Armed Criminal Group (KKB), which shot a motorcycle taxi driver, Irwan.
The victim was shot at the Kimak road junction, Ilaga District, Puncak Regency, Central Papua, Wednesday (22/3/2023) at around 09.20 WIT.
Darem 173/PVY, Brigadier General Sri Widodo explained, after the incident, the joint team conducted observations using drones and found out that the movement of the KKB was seen
carrying two long-barreled firearms.
"After the shooting, at that time the joint TNI-Polri team chased it towards the PT Unggul bridge," he said when contacted by telephone, Wednesday.
After confirming the existence of the KKB, continued Widodo, the joint team tried to chase those who were trying to escape.
TNI-Polri personnel then fired measured shots and were confirmed to have killed three members of the KKB.
"We managed to paralyze three KKB members who were seen through a drone carrying rifles," he said.
Widodo said that two of the bodies of three KKB members were taken away by his colleagues, while one body was evacuated by TNI-Polri personnel to the Puncak Police Headquarters.
"However, the body that we managed to secure was only one person, his name was Enius Tabuni (22), while the other two bodies of KKB Papua had been brought by his colleagues," he said.
Enius Tabuni's body was then handed over to his family and a traditional burning was carried out.
As previously reported, a motorcycle taxi driver, Irwan, was shot dead by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) at the Kimak road junction, Ilaga District, Puncak Regency, Central Papua, Wednesday (22/3/2023) at around 09.20 WIT.
It is strongly suspected that the shooting was carried out by KKB who pretended to be the victim's passenger and shot when he arrived at his destination.
"The witness saw the victim accompanying the perpetrator to the Kimak road junction (asphalt road boundary), then the victim waited for the perpetrator to pay the fare," said Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, in a written statement, Wednesday.
