Slams Hollywood, Johnny Depp: They Throw Me in the Trash Can
– Actor Johnny Depp slammed the Hollywood film industry, saying they “threw me in the trash” to explain why he hasn't worked in the industry for years.
In 2022, Johnny Depp won a defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard over a 2018 opinion piece she wrote in The Washington Post.
Two years earlier, Johnny Depp lost a libel case against The Sun after publishing an article calling him a “wife beater” – a claim Johnny Depp has consistently denied.
This situation led to Johnny Depp being removed from the Fantastic Beasts franchise and therefore not getting any Hollywood roles recently.
The majority of his recent roles have been in European cinema, including his most recent role as King Louis XV in Jeanne Du Barry, in which he appeared in French.
Johnny Depp doesn't have much good to say about Hollywood.
“They are expendable and they know it. "Famous accountants who have the ability to give a green light and make a studio film... but they press the green light, they spend a lot of money," said Johnny Depp to Metro, quoted Monday (22/4/2024).
“The budgets are ridiculous for these films… some romantic comedies with two very popular people. People – real people – they're sick of it," added Johnny Depp.
Elsewhere in the interview, Johnny Depp spoke about the impact fame has had on him.
“I'm very lucky and I can't complain about anything. None. I won't do it," said Johnny Depp.
Earlier this week, Johnny Depp was accused of verbally abusing Lola Glaudini on the set of the 2001 film Blow.
In a recent episode of the Powerful Truth Angels podcast, Glaudini claimed Johnny Depp “exposed his face” after being cued by director Ted Demme to laugh after the actor delivered a monologue.
So far Johnny Depp's representatives have commented to respond to this by denying everything.
