Alef Aeronautics is a startup from the United States supported by SpaceX, a company owned by billionaire Elon Musk. Since July last year, this startup company has received a certificate from the Aviation Administration or FAA to test its flying car.
CEO of Alef Aeronautics, Jim Dukhovny, said the permits granted by the FAA were still limited. This is related because the ability of flying cars has never existed before. However, Jim is optimistic that the electric flying car trial permit will bring future transportation technology closer to the people.
"This allows us to get closer to bringing greener, faster travel to people. Saving individuals and companies time every week. It's a small step for planes, but a big step for cars.”, said Jim Dukhovny.
Specifically, Dukhovny said that the certification test for the electric flying car could only be carried out in certain locations, and received approval to be tested on roads and in the air. At the same time, he also stated that those interested could order a car whose price was targeted to reach US$ 300,000 or the equivalent of Rp. 4.5 billion.

Alef Aeronautics adalah sebuah startup asal Amerika Serikat yang didukung oleh SpaceX, perusahaan milik miliarder Elon Musk. Sejak bulan Juli tahun lalu perusahaan rintisan ini telah mendapatkan sertifikat dari Lembaga Administrasi Penerbangan atau FAA untuk menguji coba mobil terbang buatannya.
CEO Alef Aeronautics, Jim Dukhovny, katakan izin yang diberikan FAA masih terbatas. Hal ini terkait karena kemampuan mobil terbang belum pernah ada sebelumnya. Namun Jim optimis izin uji coba mobil terbang listrik itu akan membawa teknologi transportasi masa depan semakin dekat dengan masyarakat.
"Ini memungkinkan kami untuk lebih dekat dalam menghadirkan perjalanan yang ramah lingkungan dan lebih cepat bagi masyarakat. Menghemat waktu individu dan perusahaan setiap minggunya. Merupakan satu langkah kecil untuk pesawat, tapi satu langkah besar untuk mobil.”, kata Jim Dukhovny.
Secara spesifik Dukhovny katakan sertifikasi uji coba mobil terbang listrik itu hanya bisa dilakukan di lokasi tertentu, serta mendapat persetujuan untuk diujicobakan di jalan raya dan di udara. Sekaligus juga menyatakan jika peminat sudah bisa memesan mobil yang harganya ditargetkan mencapai US$ 300.000 atau setara Rp 4,5 miliar.
