15 Cruise Ships Carrying 12 Thousand Tourists Disembark at Komodo National Park During 2024

West Manggarai - A total of 15 cruise ships dock at Komodo National Park (TN), West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), during January-March 2024. The cruise ships dock at Komodo Island and Rinca Island, the two largest habitats for Komodo monitor lizards in Komodo National Park area. 

Head of the Immigration Traffic and Stay Permit Section at the TPI Labuan Bajo Class II Immigration Office, Oktavianus Malisan, said that most of the cruise ships came from Australia. There are also people from Timor Leste, Papua New Guinea and Malaysia. The dozens of tourist boats carried nearly 12 thousand tourists and more than six thousand crew members. 
"The Labuan Bajo Immigration Office will serve the arrival of 15 cruise ships during the January-March 2024 period. "It was recorded that 11,912 foreign national passengers arrived on Komodo Island and Rinca Island using this cruise ship, bringing with them a total of 6,865 crew members," said Oktavianus in his statement, Friday (15/3/2024).

He welcomed the arrival of many tourist boats bringing thousands of tourists to Komodo National Park. Because, this has a positive impact on the development of Labuan Bajo tourism. 

"This is a very positive thing for the tourism climate in Indonesia, especially for the people of Labuan Bajo," said Oktavianus. 
Head of the TPI Labuan Bajo Jaya Class II Immigration Office, Mahendra, said that the Immigration Office he leads has a Marine Immigration Checkpoint (TPI). His job is to carry out the immigration clearance process for all passengers and cruise ship crew arriving in Labuan Bajo. Direct immigration checks are carried out on cruise ships. 
"To make it easier for cruise ship passengers who dock in Labuan Bajo, the Labuan Bajo Immigration Office also carries out direct inspections on board the ship, namely through the Immigration on Shipping program, thereby shortening time and cutting queues at the port arrival area," explainedMahendra. 
"The arrival of cruise ships in Labuan Bajo is certainly a joy for local residents of Komodo and Rinca Islands, because it has a direct impact on the economy of local residents," he continued. 

Meanwhile, PT TRACK Labuan Bajo Branch Manager Sumarlin said that around 30 cruise ships are scheduled to visit Labuan Bajo in 2024. 
"Labuan Bajo or Komodo Island is the entry point or first port in Indonesia for cruise ships originating from Australia and Papua New Guinea," said Sumarlin.

Sebanyak 15 kapal pesiar (cruise) bersandar di Taman Nasional (TN) Komodo, Kabupaten Manggarai Barat, Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), selama Januari-Maret 2024. Kapal pesiar itu berlabuh di Pulau Komodo dan Pulau Rinca, dua habitat terbesar biawak komodo di kawasan TN Komodo.

Kepala Seksi Lalu Lintas dan Izin Tinggal Keimigrasian Kantor Imigrasi Kelas II TPI Labuan Bajo Oktavianus Malisan mengatakan kapal pesiar tersebut kebanyakan datang dari Australia. Ada juga dari Timor Leste, Papua Nugini, dan Malaysia. Belasan kapal wisata itu membawa hampir 12 ribu wisatawan dan enam ribu lebih awak kapal.
"Kantor Imigrasi Labuan Bajo melayani kedatangan 15 kapal pesiar selama periode Januari-Maret 2024. Tercatat sebanyak 11.912 penumpang warga negara asing tiba di Pulau Komodo dan Pulau Rinca menggunakan kapal pesiar tersebut dengan membawa serta total 6.865 awak kapal," kata Oktavianus dalam keterangannya, Jumat (15/3/2024).

Dia menyambut baik kedatangan banyak kapal wisata yang membawa ribuan turis ke Taman Nasional Komodo. Sebab, hal itu berdampak positif bagi perkembangan pariwisata Labuan Bajo.

"Ini merupakan hal sangat positif bagi iklim pariwisata di Indonesia khususnya bagi masyarakat Labuan Bajo," ujar Oktavianus.
Kepala Kantor Imigrasi Kelas II TPI Labuan Bajo Jaya Mahendra mengatakan Kantor Imigrasi yang dipimpinnya itu memiliki Tempat Pemeriksaan Imigrasi (TPI) Laut. Tugasnya adalah melaksanakan proses pemeriksaan keimigrasian (immigration clearance) terhadap seluruh penumpang dan awak kapal pesiar yang datang di Labuan Bajo. Pemeriksaan keimigrasian langsung dilakukan di atas kapal pesiar.
"Untuk semakin memudahkan penumpang kapal pesiar yang berlabuh di Labuan Bajo, Kantor Imigrasi Labuan Bajo juga melakukan pemeriksaan langsung di atas kapal yakni melalui program Immigration on Shipping sehingga mempersingkat waktu dan memangkas antrean pada area kedatangan pelabuhan," urai Mahendra.
"Kedatangan kapal pesiar di Labuan Bajo tentunya menjadi kebahagiaan tersendiri bagi warga lokal Pulau Komodo dan Rinca, sebab berdampak langsung terhadap ekonomi warga sekitar," lanjut dia.

Sementara itu, Branch Manager PT TRACK Labuan Bajo Sumarlin mengatakan sekitar 30 kapal pesiar dijadwalkan berkunjung ke Labuan Bajo pada 2024.
"Labuan Bajo atau Pulau Komodo menjadi entry point atau first port di Indonesia untuk kapal-kapal cruise yang berasal dari Australia dan Papua New Guinea," ujar Sumarlin.
