BYD Overtakes Tesla, Elon Musk is Worried: They Will Destroy the World Automotive Company

San Francisco, - Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that the electric vehicle company from China would beat global competitors without a hitch and could destroy world automotive companies.
Elon expressed this after seeing that BYD had received support from Warren Buffett to produce electric cars with cheap models and increase the variety of product lines.
It is known that the electric vehicle company from the United States (US), Tesla, was successfully overtaken by BYD to become the best-selling electric vehicle or EV company in the world in the fourth quarter of 2023.
"Chinese car companies are the most competitive and will achieve great success globally and that depends on the type of car, tariffs and trade barriers they face," said Elon, quoted by Reuters, Thursday (25/1/2024).
Elon continued that Chinese automotive companies would destroy most of the world's automotive companies.
"That could happen if there were no trade barriers and would destroy most of the world's automotive companies. They (Chinese automotive companies) are very good," he said.
Elon Musk's concerns occurred after giving a discount on Tesla prices in China was unable to increase EV sales so that BYD became a leader in the world EV industry.
Elon also admitted that he had warned Tesla because it had reached the price reduction limit for the Tesla vehicle product line.
Tesla also plans to start producing a lower-priced compact crossover carrying the "Redwood" name. This car is said to be launched in mid-2025 to compete with other cheap electric cars.
However, Chinese manufacturers are smart in controlling costs and the supply chain is stable. Chinese companies are also moving quickly with increasing domestic competition. so they are trying to expand marketing to the global market.
It is known that SAIC MOTOR is said to have ordered more ships to take vehicles abroad as a step to save shipping costs and increase sales.

San Fransisco, - CEO Tesla Elon Musk menyebut perusahaan kendaraan listrik asal Tiongkok akan mengalahkan kompetitor global tanpa hambatan dan bisa menghancurkan perusahaan otomotif dunia.
Hal ini diungkapkan Elon setelah melihat BYD mendapat dukungan Warren Buffett untuk memproduksi mobil listrik dengan model yang murah dan menambah variasi lini produk.
Diketahui perusahaan kendaraan listrik asal Amerika Serikat (AS) Tesla berhasil disalip oleh BYD sehingga menjadi kendaraan listrik atau perusahaan EV terlaris di dunia pada kuartal IV 2023.
"Perusahaan mobil Tiongkok adalah yang paling kompetitif dan akan meraih kesuksesan besar secara global dan itu tergantung pada jenis mobil, tarif hingga hambatan perdagangan yang dihadapi," ucap Elon dikutip dari Reuters, Kamis (25/1/2024).
Elon melanjutkan bahwa perusahaan otomotif Tiongkok akan menghancurkan sebagian besar perusahaan otomotif dunia.
"Itu bisa terjadi jika tidak ada hambatan perdagangan dan akan menghancurkan sebagian besar perusahaan otomotif dunia. Mereka (perusahaan otomotif Tiongkok) sangat bagus," ucapnya.
Kekhawatiran Elon Musk ini terjadi setelah memberikan diskon harga Tesla di Tiongkok tak mampu menigkatkan penjualan EV sehingga BYD menjadi leading di industri EV dunia.
Elon juga mengaku telah memberi peringatan Tesla karena telah mencapai batas penurunan harga dari jajaran produk kendaraan Tesla.
Tesla juga berencana untuk mulai memproduksi crossover kompak dengan harga yang lebih murah yang mengusung nama "Redwood". Mobil ini disebut akan meluncur di pertengahan tahun 2025 untuk bersaing dengan mobil listrik murah lain.
Namun, produsen asal Tiongkok pintar dalam mengendalikan biaya dan rantai pasok jadi stabil. Perusahan Tiongkok juga gerak cepat dengan meningkatnya persaingan di dalam negeri. sehingga mereka berupaya untuk memperluas pemasaran ke pasar global.
Diketahui, SAIC MOTOR disebut telah memesan lebih banyak kapal laut untuk membawa kendaraan ke luar negeri sebagai langkah untuk menghemat biaya pengiriman dan meningkatkan penjualan.
