HOLIDAY NEWS - Google is said to collect various personal data belonging to its users. This is done through the company's products and services ranging from Gmail, Google Search to Android phones. 

These products and services will record and store user history. CNBC International wrote that some of the data collected was name, gender, date of birth, personal cellphone number, search history on Google, and sites visited. 

Apart from that, likes like sports and food and drink. Other data collected also includes place of work, residence, and videos watched. 

There are several ways Google knows or records users' personal data. Here's the information:

Types of Ads of Interest

You can find out through the Manage Ad Settings menu. In this menu there will be information regarding the advertising topics you like and record data on gender, age and ads that have been blocked. 

Places You've Visited

Google Maps will save the user's visited locations. You can check it via the Google Locations History Page. 

Youtube Activity

YouTube also records various user activities through the Search and Youtube Watch features. You can check it directly on the video sharing platform. 

Users can stop Google's spying practices. However, when turning off the feature, there will be a difference in the appearance of the company's products and services. 

One of them is that you will no longer see relevant ads. Search recommendations will also appear less useful and personal experiences will also disappear. 

As a note, turning off this spy feature will not delete previously saved tracking. However, it will no longer save information when the feature has been disabled. 

Here's how to turn off Google spying, quoted from Cnet:

-Open the Google.com page from a desktop or mobile browser

-Log in to your Google account

-Select Manage your Google Account. 

-On the -Privacy & Personalization menu, select Manage your Data & Personalization

-There will be Activity Controls by scrolling the screen down, next select Manage your Activity Controls

-Next you will see a box called Web & App Activity, slide the toggle to turn it off

-Later there will be a notification ensuring the user understands what is being done by deactivating the setting

-Select Pause

HOLUDAY NEWS -  Google disebut mengumpulkan beragam data pribadi milik penggunanya. Ini dilakukan melalui produk dan layanan perusahaan mulai dari Gmail, Google Search hingga ponsel Android.

Produk dan layanan tersebut akan merekam dan menyimpan riwayat pengguna. CNBC Internasional menuliskan beberapa data yang yang dikumpulkan adalah nama, jenis kelamin, tanggal lahir, nomor ponsel pribadi, riwayat pencarian di Google, dan situs yang dikunjungi.

Selain itu kesukaan seperti olahraga serta makanan dan minuman. Data lain yang dikumpulkan juga termasuk tempat kerja, tempat tinggal, hingga video yang ditonton.

Ada beberapa cara Google mengetahui atau merekam data pribadi milik pengguna. Berikut informasinya:

Jenis Iklan yang Diminati

Kamu dapat mengetahuinya melalui menu Manage Ad Settings. Dalam menu tersebut akan ada informasi terkait topik iklan yang disukai dan merekam data jenis kelamin, umur, dan iklan yang pernah diblokir.

Tempat yang Pernah Dikunjungi

Google Maps akan menyimpan lokasi pengguna yang pernah dikunjungi. Kamu dapat memeriksanya melalui Google Locations History Page.

Aktivitas Youtube

Youtube juga merekam berbagai aktivitas pengguna melalui fitur Search dan Youtube Watch. Kamu dapat memeriksanya secara langsung dalam platform berbagi video tersebut.

Pengguna dapat menghentikan praktik mata-mata yang dilakukan Google. Namun saat mematikan fitur, akan ada perbedaan dalam tampilan produk dan layanan perusahaan.

Salah satunya adalah tidak akan lagi melihat iklan yang relevan. Rekomendasi penelusuran juga akan tampil kurang bermanfaat serta pengalaman personal juga menghilang.

Sebagai catatan, cara mematikan fitur mata-mata ini tidak akan menghapus pelacakan yang sudah tersimpan sebelumnya. Namun tidak akan lagi menyimpan informasi saat fitur telah dinonaktifkan.

Berikut cara mematikan mata-mata Google, dikutip dari Cnet:

-Buka laman Google.com dari browser desktop atau mobile

-Masuk ke akun Google yang dimiliki

-Pilih Manage your Google Account.

-Pada menu -Privacy & Personalization, pilih Manage your Data & Personalization

-Akan ada Activity Controls dengan scrolling layar ke bawah, berikutnya pilih Manage your Activity Controls

-Selanjutnya akan terlihat boks bernama Web & App Activity, geser toggle untuk mematikannya

-Nantinya akan ada pemberitahuan memastikan pengguna paham apa yang dilakukan dengan menonaktifkan pengaturan

-Pilih Pause
