HOLIDAY NEWS - Google is again eradicating malicious apps from the Play Store. This time Google removed 12 dangerous applications which in total had been downloaded more than two million times. 

Dozens of malicious applications were discovered by cyber security solution service provider Dr. Web. In its latest report, Dr.Web analysts discovered a trojan application related to the FakeApp, Joker, and HiddenAds malware families. Of the dozens of applications, there is one that is most worrying, namely 'Super Skibydi Killer'. The reason is, this application is adware disguised as a game and has been downloaded more than one million times. 

Dr. The web explains that once Android users install this application on their cellphone, the application will hide by replacing its icon with the Google Chrome icon or using a transparent icon image making it difficult to detect. Once installed, the adware will immediately operate silently in the background. This application will directly open the browser to display ads and make money for the operator. The following is a list of adware that disguises itself as a game:

Super Skibydi Killer - 1,000,000 downloads

Agent Shooter - 500,000 downloads

Rainbow Stretch - 50,000 downloads

Rubber Punch 3D - 500,000 downloads

Analyst Dr. The web also discovered a number of applications related to the FakeApp malware, which redirect users to fraudulent investment websites. There are also apps that host suspicious online casino websites that violate Google Play policies. 

Some of the game applications in question include:

Eternal Maze (Yana Pospyelova) - 50,000 downloads

Jungle Jewels (Vaibhav Wable) - 10,000 downloads

Stellar Secrets (Pepperstocks) - 10,000 downloads

Fire Fruits (Sandra Seville) - 10,000 downloads

Cowboy's Frontier (Precipice Game Studios) - 10,000 downloads

Enchanted Elixir (Acomadyi) - 10,000 downloads

Finally, Dr. The web also highlighted two applications from the Joker malware family on Google Play. The characteristic of this malware is that it forces users to subscribe to paid premium services without their knowledge, as quoted from Bleeping Computer, Monday (30/10/2023). 

The two applications in question are:

Love Emoji Messenger (Korsinka Vimoipan) - 50,000 downloads

Beauty Wallpaper HD (fm0989184) - 1,000 downloads

All the applications mentioned in Dr. Web has been removed from the Play Store by Google. But users who have already installed it are advised to immediately delete the application from their devices. 

Additionally, for additional protection, Android users are required to scan their devices completely using Play Protect and an antivirus app.

Google kembali membasmi aplikasi berbahaya dari Play Store. Kali ini Google menghapus 12 aplikasi berbahaya yang secara total sudah diunduh lebih dari dua juta kali.

Belasan aplikasi jahil itu ditemukan oleh penyedia layanan solusi keamanan siber Dr. Web. Dalam laporan terbarunya, analis Dr.Web menemukan aplikasi trojan yang berhubungan dengan keluarga malware FakeApp, Joker, dan HiddenAds.

Dari belasan aplikasi tersebut, ada satu yang paling dikhawatirkan yaitu 'Super Skibydi Killer'. Pasalnya, aplikasi ini merupakan adware yang menyamar sebagai game dan sudah diunduh lebih dari satu juta kali.

Dr. Web menjelaskan begitu pengguna Android menginstal aplikasi ini di ponselnya, aplikasi itu akan bersembunyi dengan mengganti ikonnya dengan ikon Google Chrome atau menggunakan gambar ikon yang transparan sehingga sulit deteksi.

Setelah diinstal, adware akan langsung beroperasi secara diam-diam di background. Aplikasi ini akan langsung membuka browser untuk menampilkan iklan dan menghasilkan uang untuk operatornya.

Berikut daftar adware yang menyamar sebagai game:

• Super Skibydi Killer - 1.000.000 download
• Agent Shooter - 500.000 download
• Rainbow Stretch - 50.000 download
• Rubber Punch 3D - 500.000 download

Analis Dr. Web juga menemukan sejumlah aplikasi yang terkait dengan malware FakeApp, yang mengarahkan pengguna ke website investasi tipu-tipu. Ada juga aplikasi yang memuat website kasino online mencurigakan yang melanggar kebijakan Google Play.

Beberapa aplikasi game yang dimaksud antara lain:

Terakhir, laporan Dr. Web juga menyoroti dua aplikasi dari keluarga malware Joker di Google Play. Karakteristik malware ini adalah memaksa pengguna berlangganan layanan premium berbayar tanpa sepengetahuan mereka, seperti dikutip dari Bleeping Computer, Senin (30/10/2023).

Dua aplikasi yang dimaksud adalah:

• Love Emoji Messenger (Korsinka Vimoipan) - 50.000 download
• Beauty Wallpaper HD (fm0989184) - 1.000 download

Semua aplikasi yang disebutkan dalam laporan Dr. Web telah dihapus dari Play Store oleh Google. Tapi pengguna yang sudah terlanjur menginstal diimbau segera menghapus aplikasi tersebut dari perangkatnya.

Selain itu, untuk perlindungan tambahan, pengguna Android diminta untuk memindai perangkatnya secara keseluruhan menggunakan Play Protect dan aplikasi antivirus.
