 - If you imagine the most populous island in the world, people might think of China or India, which are known to have the largest population in the world. But it turns out, one of the most populous islands in the world is in Indonesia. It's called Bungin Island. 

Bungin Island is a village that is administratively part of Alas District, Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). It is even remotely located on the Bali High Sea, about 70 meters to the west of Sumbawa Besar District. 

According to the Directorate General for the Acceleration of Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration, as well as Indonesiabaik.id, Bungin Island is a beach sand dune that was formed into an island. Initially, this island was only 4x10 meters wide, but the Bajo tribe continued to fill the sea with rocks and soil so that it could form land to live on. Until now, the area of ​​this island has reached 8.5 to 12 hectares. Even though it is quite small compared to other islands, this figure has increased significantly from its initial area.

Data from the Central Statistics Agency in 2014 stated that Bungin Island was inhabited by around 5,000 people. Almost all of the inhabitants of this island are the Bajo tribe who have lived there since 200 years ago. This tribe is a Southeast Asian ethnic group known as ocean explorers.

Due to its density, this means that empty land on this island is no longer available. Bungin Island doesn't even have a coastline or green land, almost all of the land area on this island is filled with buildings. This makes the condition of people's houses on Bungin Island very crowded. In fact, some of the houses on this island are built on sand dunes and coral reefs. 

Bungin Island residents have close ties to this island. As a result, those who mostly work as fishermen are reluctant to leave the island until they give birth to the next generations. 

Because there is no longer any empty land, those who are married must carry out reclamation so they can build new buildings. Otherwise, the new family will have to live together. That is why, it is not uncommon on Bungin Island to find three to four heads of families in one house at once.

HOLIDAY NEWS - Jika membayangkan pulau terpadat di dunia, orang mungkin akan berpikir ada di Cina atau India yang dikenal memiliki penduduk terbanyak di dunia. Tapi ternyata, salah satu pulau terpadat di dunia itu ada di Indonesia. Namanya Pulau Bungin.

Pulau Bungin merupakan sebuah desa yang secara administratif masuk ke dalam wilayah Kecamatan Alas, Kabupaten Sumbawa, Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB). Letaknya bahkan terpencil di Laut Lepas Bali, sekitar 70 meter ke arah Barat dari Kecamatan Sumbawa Besar.

Menurut Direktorat Jenderal Percepatan Pembangunan Daerah Tertinggal Kementerian Desa, Pembangunan Daerah Tertinggal dan Transmigrasi, serta Indonesiabaik.id, Pulau Bungin merupakan gundukan pasir pantai yang terbentuk menjadi pulau. Awalnya, Pulau ini hanya seluas 4x10 meter, namun Suku Bajo terus menerus menimbun laut dengan batu-batu dan tanah agar bisa membentuk daratan untuk ditinggali. Hingga saat ini luas pulau ini mencapai 8,5 hingga 12 hektare. Meski cukup kecil jika dibandingkan dengan pulau-pulau lain, angka ini sudah bertambah banyak dari luas awalnya.

Karena kepadatannya, hal ini membuat lahan kosong di pulau ini tidak lagi tersedia. Pulau Bungin bahkan tidak memiliki garis pantai dan lahan hijau, hampir semua area daratan di pulau ini diisi oleh bangunan. Ini membuat kondisi rumah-rumah penduduk di Pulau Bungin sangat berimpitan. Bahkan, sebagian rumah di pulau ini dibangun diatas gundukan pasir dan terumbu karang.

Penduduk Pulau Bungin mempunyai ikatan yang erat dengan pulau ini. Akibatnya, mereka yang rata-rata berprofesi sebagai nelayan ini enggan meninggalkan pulau sampai melahirkan generasi-generasi berikutnya.

Karena tak lagi ada lahan kosong, mereka yang menikah harus melakukan reklamasi agar bisa mendirikan bangunan baru. Jika tidak, keluarga baru harus tinggal bersama. Itu sebabnya, tidak jarang di Pulau Bungin ini ditemukan dalam satu rumah terdapat tiga hingga empat kepala keluarga sekaligus.

Data dari Badan Pusat Statistik pada 2014 menyebutkan, Pulau Bungin ini dihuni oleh sekitar 5.000 jiwa. Hampir semua penduduk pulau ini merupakan Suku Bajo yang menghuni sejak 200 tahun lalu. Suku ini merupakan etnis Asia Tenggara yang dikenal sebagai penjelajah lautan.
