Joe Biden is an American politician and the 46th President of the United States. He was born on November 20, 1942, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He earned a law degree from Syracuse University in 1968 and became a member of the Delaware Bar in 1969.
Biden began his political career in 1972 when he was elected to the United States Senate from Delaware. He served as a senator for six terms, from 1973 to 2009. During his time in the Senate, he was the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and was known for his expertise in foreign policy.
In 2008, Biden was chosen by then-Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama to be his running mate. Obama and Biden won the election, and Biden served as Vice President of the United States from 2009 to 2017.
In 2020, Biden announced his candidacy for President of the United States. He won the Democratic nomination and went on to defeat incumbent President Donald Trump in the general election. He was inaugurated as the 46th President on January 20, 2021.
