HOLIDAY NEWS - Hunter Moon will be visible in the Indonesian sky tonight Thursday (17/10). This phenomenon is the third Super Full Moon in 2024.

This Moon will appear about 30 percent brighter and almost 15 percent larger than the Full Moon which is at its farthest point from Earth. Head of the BMKG Potential Geophysics Team, Syrojudin, said that based on the periodic table, the Hunter Moon is estimated to start taking place on October 16, 17 and 18 2024. The Hunter Moon peak will fall on October 17 2024. For western Indonesia, it is estimated that the Moon will rise at 17.39 WIB and set at 05.03 WIB. On October 16, 2024, the Moon will be in a waxing gibbous or crescent-shaped dark part of the Moon and most of the Moon's surface will be bright. Then on October 18 2024, the Moon will be in the waning gibbous phase or the bright part of the moon will decrease from 99 percent to 50 percent.

"At its peak, the size of the moon will be larger because it will be closest to Earth in 2024. The moon will be visible in Indonesian territory, unless the weather conditions are rainy," he said in Antara, quoted on Thursday (17/10/2024). Syrojudin said the Hunter Moon phenomenon is not dangerous so humans can see it with the naked eye. However, the Full Moon will have a big influence on sea tides. People in coastal areas need to be aware of this.

About Hunter Moon

Full Moons have different names throughout the year. Usually, the Earth experiences 12 Full Moons a year with their respective nicknames, as explained by the BBC. The October full moon is called the Hunter Moon because it occurs when hunters are most active in hunting. They would use this time to plan for the winter months and hunt animals for food.

Hunter Moon is also included in the Super Full Moon or Supermoon category. This condition makes the Moon appear bigger than usual.

Supermoons occur because the Moon's orbit around the Earth is not a perfect circle, but an elliptical or egg-shaped orbit. Sometimes the Moon is closer to Earth and sometimes it is further away. The Moon's size doesn't change, it just appears bigger the closer it gets.

Supermoon Hunter will be visible in the sky tonight, this is its uniqueness

Friends, did you see the full moon last night? Yep, last night the moon looked almost perfectly round. Then, tonight a super full moon will decorate the sky. Tonight, the biggest supermoon phenomenon of 2024 will take place. A supermoon is a new or full moon that occurs when the Moon is within 90 percent of its closest distance to Earth.

What is it called and how is it unique?

Supermoon Hunter Sourced from space.com, on Thursday 17 October at 7.26 EDT or 11.26 GMT the super Hunter full moon or Hunter supermoon will be visible.

In fact, last Wednesday night, the Moon arrived at perigee, its closest point to Earth at a distance of 357,174 kilometers.

This means that tonight the Moon will be 14 percent brighter than usual.

The Hunter Moon is expected to occur on October 17 at dusk, then the moon will set at dawn.

If you want to see the beauty of the Hunter Moon, the Moon will be in the constellation Pisces and will appear bright and full before and after October 17th.

After three days, the Moon is expected to rise with Jupiter.

Then, why is this super moon phenomenon called the Hunter Moon, Bo?

Because, its appearance was once used by many people as a signal for hunters to face winter.

Install Sea Water

Simultaneously with the Hunter's supermoon phenomenon, sea water will experience high tide.

At this time, the Moon and Sun form a line with the Earth, so the tides will increase.

However, this sea tide phenomenon is estimated to occur a few days after the super moon phenomenon, friends.

People who live on the coast are expected to take shelter from the impact of sea tides.

The tides that occur due to the new moon phase are still related to the Moon's gravity, friends.

Yep, apart from the Earth, the Moon also has a gravitational force of 1.62 m/s2.

Sea tides are events that change the height and low of sea levels due to the gravitational force of astronomical objects, especially the Sun and Moon.

TODAY'S RECOMMENDATIONS

Tides mean the rise in sea levels caused by the Moon's gravitational function.

The Moon's gravitational force can pull on any object within its force field, including pulling on the Earth's surface and causing sea levels to rise and fall.

The moon's gravity pulls on the Earth's surface facing it, so that in that area, water will be pulled together and form a bulge.

So, on the surface of the Earth, this bulge can be seen as rising sea levels.
