The moment President Jokowi bowed and shook hands to greet Pope Francis at the Merdeka Palace

HOLIDAY NEWS -- Pope Francis met with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the State Palace today, Wednesday (4/9/2024). 

Pope Francis' meeting with Jokowi began with a state ceremony on the front lawn of the Merdeka Palace, on Wednesday at 09.30 WIB. 

When the Pope arrived at the location, a number of children wearing regional clothing stood in neat rows to welcome Pope Francis
The children's happy faces greeted the Pope, while holding small flags in both hands they shouted loudly

Upon the Pope's arrival in front of the Palace, President Jokowi bowed and immediately greeted Pope Francis with great warmth. 
Meeting with Pope Francis, President Jokowi was accompanied by a number of United Indonesia Cabinet ministers and other state officials. 
And accompanying Pope Francis in this meeting were a number of officials from the Vatican, as well as bishops and several priests. 

On the other hand, President Jokowi also introduced Prabowo Subianto, President Elect and Minister of Defense. 
Apart from that, a number of United Indonesia Cabinet ministers also took turns shaking hands with Pope Francis. 

For your information, the Pope's visit to Indonesia is part of an apostolic journey which will end on September 13 2024. 
Pope Francis arrived in Indonesia on Tuesday (3/9/2024). His simple figure attracted the public's attention, even when he asked to be taken in a car commonly used in Indonesia, namely the white Kijang Innova Zenix.
