Mark Zuckerberg Enters the Elite Billionaire Club with Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos

HOLIDAY NEWS - Mark Zuckerberg has always been on the list of the 10 richest people in the world. However, it wasn't long ago that the CEO of Meta made his way into an even more elite club, filled only by Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos. 

These three technology bosses are members of the human club with a net worth of USD 200 or around Rp. 3,036 trillion. Not only that, Zuckerberg also became the biggest winner after amassing the largest wealth this year. 

According to Bloomberg Billionaires Index data, Zuckerberg's wealth grew by USD 72.2 billion this year, which brings his total personal wealth to USD 200 billion. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is in second place with a surge in wealth of USD 58 billion this year. 

But the status of the richest person in the world is still held by Elon Musk with wealth of USD 270 billion. Second place is held by Jeff Bezos with wealth of USD 215 billion, followed by Zuckerberg in third place. 

Zuckerberg managed to outperform a number of other technology bosses including Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison and two former Microsoft CEOs Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer, as quoted by Fortune, Friday (27/9/2024). 

Zuckerberg actually only receives a salary of USD 1, but his wealth comes from the Meta shares he owns and other compensation. As the founder of Facebook/Meta, this 40 year old man is the largest shareholder and owns around 345.5 million Meta shares. 

This year, Zuckerberg also took home compensation worth USD 24.4 million. Most of the compensation was used to pay bodyguards and security for Zuckerberg. 

Meta, owner of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Threads, has performed well this year. Since the start of 2024, Meta shares are up 60% and even 85% year-over-year. Zuckerberg credits Meta's focus on AI as a strengthening factor in the company's performance this year. 

"Meta AI is on track to become the most widely used AI assistant in the world by the end of this year," Zuckerberg said following Meta's financial report announcement in July.

Tiga bos teknologi ini merupakan anggota dari klub manusia berharta USD 200 atau sekitar Rp 3.036 triliun. Tidak hanya itu, Zuckerberg juga jadi pemenang terbesar setelah mengumpulkan kekayaan paling besar tahun ini.

Menurut data Bloomber Billionaires Index, kekayaan Zuckerberg tumbuh USD 72,2 miliar tahun ini, yang menjadikan total kekayaan pribadinya sebesar USD 200 miliar. CEO Nvidia Jensen Huang ada di peringkat kedua dengan lonjakan kekayaan sebesar USD 58 miliar sepanjang tahun ini.

Zuckerberg sebenarnya hanya menerima gaji sebesar USD 1, tapi kekayaannya datang dari saham Meta yang ia miliki dan kompensasi lainnya. Sebagai pendiri Facebook/Meta, pria berusia 40 tahun ini merupakan pemegang saham terbesar dan memiliki sekitar 345,5 juta saham Meta.

Tahun ini, Zuckerberg juga membawa pulang kompensasi senilai USD 24,4 juta. Sebagian besar kompensasi itu digunakan untuk membayar bodyguard dan keamanan untuk Zuckerberg.

Meta, pemilik Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, dan Threads, memiliki kinerja baik tahun ini. Sejak awal tahun 2024, saham Meta naik 60% dan bahkan 85% year-over-year. Zuckerberg menganggap fokus Meta terhadap AI sebagai faktor yang menguatkan kinerja perusahaan tahun ini.

"Meta AI berada di jalur yang tepat untuk menjadi asisten AI yang paling banyak digunakan di dunia pada akhir tahun ini," kata Zuckerberg setelah pengumuman laporan keuangan Meta pada bulan Juli.
