As we know, in July 2024 the Indonesian government or in this case Kominfo included the domain duckduckgo.com on the trustpositive.kominfo.go.id page, which made it not freely accessible to users. 

This has also been widely discussed and has even been confirmed by DuckDuckGo itself who said that their search engine had been blocked by the Indonesian government because it did not comply with their censorship policy, and unfortunately there was no way to unblock it. 

Well, one of the reasons why the government blocked DuckDuckGo is because this search engine does not comply with censorship policies. As we know, unlike Google or Bing, we can search for anything on DuckDuckGo because user privacy is everything. 

Can we still access DuckDuckGo? 

Answering this question, of course, we can still access DuckDuckGo in various ways that you can do. Start by relying on a VPN, either a paid or free VPN like ProtonVPN (which I quite recommend) or we can also rely on DNS Over HTTPS which is very overpowering to unblock the government. 

So in this article I will show you how to access DuckDuckGo by setting DNS over HTTPS, either in your flagship browser, or in Windows 11 directly. 

Enable DNS Over HTTPS in Browser

In essence, just go to the Settings > Privacy and security > Security page or the url chrome://settings/security then you change the DNS Over HTTPS settings to Google DNS or Cloudflare. 

You can also apply the same steps to other Chromium-based browsers such as Opera, Brave, Vivaldi and Microsoft Edge.

In short, you have to change DNS over HTTPS to an available DNS such as Google or Cloudflare too. 

Enable DNS Over HTTPS in Windows 11

So, as we know, Microsoft has introduced the DNS over HTTPS option as one of the network security improvements in Windows 11, where you can now activate it and enter your favorite DNS that you trust.

After activating DNS Over HTTPS, DuckDuckGo can now be accessed normally again as in the following image. 

Well, DNS Over HTTPS is honestly very powerful for opening various government blocks because we can access your favorite sites like Reddit or other sites. 

But of course it's a good idea that this technology is used for useful things and not used for things you don't need. The point is, just be wise in using technology because after all it has good and bad sides.

Nah salah satu alasan yang membuat pemerintah memblokir duckduckgo adalah karena search engine ini tidak mematuhi kebijakan sensor yang seperti kita tahu, berbeda dengan Google atau Bing, kita dapat mencari apapun di DuckDuckGo karena privacy pengguna adalah segalanya.

Apakah kita masih bisa mengakses DuckDuckGo?
