Petrified Forest National Park

Petrified Forest National Park
The Petrified Forest National Park is spread over an area of 900 square kilometers. The specialty of this land located in the state of Arizona, America is that the lush forests with large trees that existed 225 million years ago have completely petrified and become deserts today. Apart from that, this area has been identified as an area where many fossils of animals that lived hundreds of millions of years ago have been found, including dinosaurs.

Trees become petrified like this when the area is suddenly covered with water or volcanic ash. Once covered in this way, the oxygen supply to the log is reduced, so bacteria and fungi cannot function normally and begin the decomposition process. But over millions of years, these parts of the plant slowly began to rot. In this way, the minerals and salts in the groundwater are gradually added to the holes in the melting section. Over time, due to environmental pressure, the mineral deposits and parts of plant cells are completely covered, leaving colorful petrified tree trunks.

Later, due to the push of tectonic plates and earthquakes, these lands, which were hundreds of feet underground, were uplifted and these amazing fossils were lifted to the surface of the earth. After the soil and dust were washed away by the rain and wind, only dead tree trunks remained in the ground. Witness the beautiful creations that nature has created slowly over millions of years.
