Google Provides Anti-Theft Features for Android Users, Here's the Mechanism

HOLIDAY NEWS - Google officially launched the Theft Detection Lock feature or theft detection lock feature which is supported by Artificial Intelligence. 

This feature was created to prevent theft from accessing data on the user's smartphone. 

Google will roll out this feature on Android 10 or later. Reporting from Forbes, Google first teased Android users with news of upcoming anti-theft measures back in May. 

At that time, Google's Vice President of Product, Trust and Growth Suzanne Frey posted that her company would help smartphone users with theft. 

Suzanne said there are three new features that are useful before, during and after a theft. 

Android operating system expert Mishaal Rahman said via X that one of the most amazing anti-theft features, theft detection lock, has now been rolled out to some users. "It is being rolled out to a small number of users who signed up for the beta program in Brazil," Rahman said. 

Rahman said that this feature will later be able to be downloaded on Google Play specifically for Android users. 

Google calls this feature an 'AI-powered automatic screen lock when your phone is snatched'. 

This feature leverages Google's AI to determine whether someone has stolen your smartphone. 

The way to do this is to identify the type of movement most frequently associated with the theft, such as snatching from the hand, running away, cycling, or car. 

If the movement is considered an indication of theft, the AI-powered feature will immediately lock your device to prevent thieves from easily accessing your data. 

Even so, this feature does not fully provide a sense of security. 

It's just that Google wants to help users to make things more difficult for thieves.

HOLIDAY NEWS - Google resmi meluncurkan fitur Theft Detection Lock atau fitur kunci deteksi pencurian yang telah didukung Kecerdasan Buatan atau Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Fitur ini dibuat untuk mencegah adanya pencurian yang hendak mengakses data di smartphone pengguna.

Google akan meluncurkan fitur ini di Android 10 atau yang lebih baru.

Dilansir dari Forbes, Google pertama kali menggoda pengguna Android dengan berita tentang langkah-langkah antipencurian yang akan datang pada bulan Mei lalu.

Saat itu, Wakil Presiden Produk, Kepercayaan dan Pertumbuhan Google Suzanne Frey memposting kalau perusahaannya akan membantu pengguna smartphone perihal pencurian.

Suzanne menyebut ada tiga fitur baru yang berguna sebelum, selama, dan setelah pencurian.

Pakar sistem operasi Android Mishaal Rahman menyampaikan lewat X bahwa salah satu fitur antipencurian yang paling luar biasa, kunci deteksi pencurian, kini telah diluncurkan untuk beberapa pengguna.

"Sedang diluncurkan untuk sejumlah kecil pengguna yang mendaftar untuk program beta di Brasil," kata Rahman.

Fitur itu nantinya kata Rahman bisa didownload di Google Play khusus pengguna Android.

Google menyebut fitur ini sebagai 'kunci layar otomatis bertenaga AI saat ponsel Anda dijambret'.

Fitur ini memanfaatkan AI Google untuk menentukan apakah seseorang telah merampas smartphone Anda.

Caranya adalah dengan mengidentifikasi jenis gerakan yang paling sering dikaitkan dengan pencurian tersebut, seperti merampas dari tangan, melarikan diri, bersepeda, atau mobil.

Jika gerakan tersebut dianggap sebagai indikasi pencurian, fitur bertenaga AI tersebut akan langsung mengunci perangkat Anda untuk mencegah pencuri mengakses data Anda dengan mudah.

Meskipun begitu, fitur ini belum sepenuhnya memberikan rasa aman.

Hanya saja, Google ingin membantu pengguna agar mempersulit pencuri.

Pencuri harus mengetahui PIN dan melewati verifikasi wajah dan sidik jari untuk dapat mengakses smartphone curian tersebut.
