- There are many objects that emit radiation, one of which is the smartphone you are currently holding. According to the US Federal Communications Commission, the specific absorption rate (SAR), which measures how quickly the body absorbs radio frequency energy, has a maximum limit of 1.6 watts per kilogram.
Usually older models of cellphones have higher radiation levels than the newest ones. This is emanated from Bankless Times research which recorded a row of cellphones with the highest radiation.
In first place, there is a cellphone from the United States telecommunications company, Motorala Edge with a SAR of 1.79W/kg. This is slightly higher than the US Federal Communications Commission's maximum limit. The rest is within safe radiation limits but is the highest compared to other smartphones around the world.
In second place, there is the Chinese cellphone ZTE Axon 11 5G with a SAR of 1.59 W/kg, and followed by the OnePlus 6T with a value of 1.55 W/kg. After that, there is the Sony Xperia XA2 Plus, a number of Google Pixels, and the Oppo Reno 5.

Sementara itu, Badan Internasional untuk Penelitian Kanker (IARC) menyebut radiasi RF kemungkinan bersifat karsinogen. Karsinogen adalah zat yang bisa menimbulkan kanker. Akan tetapi, belum ada yang membuktikan bahwa radiasi yang dipancarkan oleh smartphone bisa menyebabkan kanker.
