Google offers special program for Google account owners who are vulnerable cyber attacks

-  Google makes it easy for users of their services who are at high risk of becoming victims of online attacks to enroll in the Advanced Protection Program for Google accounts. 

Users can now set it up with a single passkey, namely using the Pixel or iPhone's built-in biometric authentication instead of the two physical security keys that the company previously required. 

Quoted from The Verge, the Advanced Protection Program is not intended for ordinary users, but rather for people with risky jobs who have sensitive information in their Google accounts that needs to be protected. 

When launched, the program requires two physical security keys to activate with one such key plus a password to log in afterwards. 

Google changed the feature in 2023 to allow users to sign in with just a passkey, a passwordless sign-in method that lets users securely log into their accounts, apps, and services using the device's built-in authentication.

However, users still need two physical security keys to actually set it up. 

To activate this program, users can go to the Advanced Protection Program page and click "Start". The page will then guide users through setup. Ultimately, users will have the option to set up with a passkey or physical security key. The company also requires a recovery method such as a phone number and email address or a second passkey if the account is locked.

-  Google memberikan kemudahan bagi para pengguna layanan mereka yang berisiko tinggi menjadi korban serangan daring untuk mendaftar dalam Advanced Protection Program untuk akun Google.

Kini pengguna dapat mengaturnya dengan satu kunci sandi, yakni menggunakan autentikasi biometrik bawaan ponsel Pixel atau iPhone alih-alih dua kunci keamanan fisik yang sebelumnya diwajibkan perusahaan.

Dikutip dari The Verge, Advanced Protection Program tidak ditujukan untuk pengguna biasa, melainkan untuk orang-orang dengan pekerjaan berisiko yang memiliki informasi sensitif di akun Google mereka yang perlu dilindungi.

Saat diluncurkan, program ini memerlukan dua kunci keamanan fisik untuk mengaktifkannya dengan satu kunci tersebut ditambah kata sandi untuk masuk setelahnya.

Google mengubah fitur tersebut pada 2023 untuk memungkinkan pengguna masuk hanya dengan passkey, metode masuk tanpa kata sandi yang memungkinkan pengguna masuk dengan aman ke dalam akun, aplikasi, dan layanan mereka menggunakan autentikasi bawaan perangkat.

Untuk mengaktifkan program ini, pengguna dapat membuka halaman Advanced Protection Program dan mengeklik "Mulai". Halaman tersebut nantinya akan memandu pengguna melalui penyiapan. Pada akhirnya, pengguna akan memiliki opsi untuk menyiapkan dengan kunci sandi atau kunci keamanan fisik.
