Google will immediately remove many applications from the Play Store, this is the trigger

Google is ready to remove many applications from the Play Store. 

Starting next month, Google will require apps in the Play Store to provide a “stable, engaging, and responsive user experience.” Otherwise, the company plans to remove the app from the store. 

This policy is part of Google's latest spam policy update and is designed to eliminate apps with “limited functionality and content,” such as text-only apps and single-wallpaper apps. 

This new rule will come into effect on Saturday, August 31 2024. According to the company, the apps targeted for removal fall into three broad categories:

Static applications without application-specific functions; for example, a text-only application or a PDF file. Apps with very little content and not providing an engaging user experience; for example, a single wallpaper application. 

Apps that are designed to do nothing or have no function. 

Google also targets apps with broken functionality. This includes apps that install properly, but are unresponsive. 

The company's latest action is part of its ongoing efforts to remove and restrict certain apps from Google Play. 

According to Android Authority, in 2023, the company also unpublished 2.28 million apps that violated policies and disapproved nearly 200,000 apps to improve user protection. 

With millions of Android-based devices currently available, of course Google's pursuit of useless or dangerous applications is quite appropriate. 

Whether it's for the high-end Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra or a budget phone, bad apps are useless on smart devices. 

Google concludes that “apps must provide a stable, responsive, and engaging user experience. 

Apps that crash, lack a sufficient level of basic utility like mobile apps, lack engaging content, or exhibit other behavior inconsistent with a functional and engaging user experience are not permitted on Google Play.”

Mulai bulan depan, Google akan mewajibkan aplikasi di Play Store untuk memberikan “pengalaman pengguna yang stabil, menarik, dan responsif.” Jika tidak, perusahaan berencana untuk menghapus aplikasi tersebut dari toko.

Kebijakan ini merupakan bagian dari pembaruan kebijakan spam terbaru Google dan dirancang untuk menghilangkan aplikasi dengan “fungsi dan konten terbatas”, seperti aplikasi hanya teks dan aplikasi wallpaper tunggal.

Aturan baru ini mulai berlaku pada Sabtu, 31 Agustus 2024, mendatang.

Menurut perusahaan, aplikasi yang ditargetkan untuk dihapus terbagi dalam tiga kategori besar:

Aplikasi yang bersifat statis tanpa fungsi khusus aplikasi; misalnya, aplikasi hanya teks atau file PDF
Aplikasi dengan konten yang sangat sedikit dan tidak memberikan pengalaman pengguna yang menarik; misalnya, aplikasi wallpaper tunggal.

Aplikasi yang dirancang untuk tidak melakukan apa pun atau tidak memiliki fungsi.

Google juga menargetkan aplikasi dengan fungsi yang rusak. Ini termasuk aplikasi yang terpasang dengan benar, tetapi tidak responsif.

Tindakan terbaru perusahaan ini adalah bagian dari upaya berkelanjutannya untuk menghapus dan membatasi aplikasi tertentu dari Google Play.

Menurut Android Authority, pada tahun 2023, perusahaan juga membatalkan publikasi 2,28 juta aplikasi yang melanggar kebijakan dan menolak hampir 200.000 aplikasi untuk meningkatkan perlindungan pengguna.

Dengan jutaan perangkat berbasis Android yang saat ini, tentu saja tindakan Google mengejar aplikasi yang tidak berguna atau berbahaya cukup tepat.

Entah itu untuk Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra kelas atas atau ponsel murah, aplikasi buruk tidak ada gunanya di perangkat pintar.

Google menyimpulkan bahwa “aplikasi harus memberikan pengalaman pengguna yang stabil, responsif, dan menarik.

Aplikasi yang macet, tidak memiliki tingkat utilitas dasar yang memadai seperti aplikasi seluler, tidak memiliki konten yang menarik, atau menunjukkan perilaku lain yang tidak konsisten dengan pengalaman pengguna yang fungsional dan menarik tidak diizinkan di Google Play.”
