BLUE FIRE of Mt. Ijen
Often addressed as the 2nd highlight of Mt. Ijen exploration (after the legendary crater lake) .. it is located at the sulphur kitchen down below, at an edge of the crater lake.
.
Blue Fire Effect : The combustion of sulfuric gases produces a blue-colored flame, which can be seen in the dark or at night, creating a surreal and otherworldly scene. The blue color results from the specific conditions under which the combustion occurs, along with the presence of other compounds in the gas mixture.
.
When in the spot (learning from previous legendary pictures of mt. Ijen by a Belgian photographer), I intentionally set a man holding a traditional torch with flaming "red" fire ... the purpose is to enhance to sourrunding for a contrast between red fire and blue fire.
