Google Has Tools to Help People Learn Faster

– Google officially introduced NotebookLM, an artificial intelligence (AI)-based research and writing model with improved features and expanded use in a number of countries.
“Last summer we introduced NotebookLM, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered research and writing assistant. "We're excited to share that we're bringing an improved version of NotebookLM," said Google Labs Editorial Director Steven Johnson, Sunday, June 9, 2024.
He also explained that NotebookLM was previously known as Project Tailwind, a new type of notebook designed to help people learn faster.
Along with the development of this AI-based product, NotebookLM currently uses Google's most advanced software, namely Gemini 1.5 Pro. According to him, NotebookLM helps someone create notebooks and upload documents for specific projects or deliverables.
Additionally, the model allows users to read, take notes, ask questions or ask NotebookLM to create an automatic overview of all study sources, including the table of contents.
“NotebookLM has given users a powerful tool for making connections and generating insights from large document collections. "Whether it's used to build imaginary worlds, write best-selling biographies, or help salespeople find new customers," he explained.
On the same occasion, Google Labs Product Manager Raiza Martin said that this product aims to help users do their best thinking by providing personalized AI, based on trusted information.
“Teams experimenting with generative AI enable users to co-create new AI applications,” he said. Raiza said that the general availability of NotebookLM was initially intended for users in the United States and surrounding areas.
However, currently its availability is extended to more than 180 countries including Australia, Canada, Japan, India and others. Additionally, there are new integrations that support new sources, including Google Slides and Web URLs.
Then, in-line citations display the most relevant quotes from the original source, and generate study guides and summaries, and suggest questions based on the source.
Lastly, multimodal capabilities allow users to ask questions about images, graphs and diagrams in slides or Docs. "NotebookLM will even include quotes to images as supporting evidence if relevant," said Raiza.
