- A foreigner from Slovakia who lives in Indonesia, Roman Nedielka, travels around the world on an electric motorbike. For the first time, Roman successfully launched an electric motorbike around the world. Now, Roman and the electric motorbike he uses to travel the world have arrived at IKN.
Roman started his journey from Jakarta in July 2023 with the vision to demonstrate the feasibility and reliability of electric motorbikes through long-distance trips around the world. Utilizing a standard Zero DSR/X electric motorbike without any modifications, the ride project is named 'E.round the World'.
Throughout his 8 month journey, Roman encountered a variety of cultures, climates and landscapes, each of which presented its own challenges and experiences. Starting with exploring the forests of Southeast Asia during the rainy season, crossing the vast desert expanse of Kazakhstan with strong winds, surviving freezing temperatures in the United States during the winter, to facing the sweltering summer heat with temperatures reaching 45°C in Australia.
Now, Roman is visiting the National Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago in Kalimantan on his electric motorbike. Roman is enthusiastic about the new capital project. He previously lived in the Middle East and witnessed firsthand the rise of new cities from vast deserts. He brought the electric motorbike he took around the world to the future capital of Indonesia, IKN Nusantara, as a symbol of transition from the old capital Jakarta, where he started his journey around the world.
"The new capital can be a world-class example of integration between nature and sustainable mobility. "After visiting IKN and riding an electric motorbike, I can see the future forming before my eyes," said Roman, quoted from a press release received by detikOto, Monday (20/5/2024).
At the end of his journey, Roman remains committed to improving the e-mobility ecosystem in Indonesia and encouraging more people to use sustainable transportation options.

"I hope to inspire more people to consider electric-based mobility and contribute to improving the feasibility and quality of life in Indonesian cities." Roman Nedielka started his journey from Indonesia to Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Slovakia, Czechia, Germany, France, the United States, Australia, Timor Leste, and returned to Indonesia. The total travel distance reaches more than 40,000 km.
This trip is the first time an electric motorbike has been used around the world alone. Despite coming from a humble background, thanks to 22 years of hard work in his career, Roman was able to complete this journey without any sponsorship or content monetization.
