– Microsoft will provide training on artificial intelligence (artificial intelligence/AI) to 840 thousand people in Indonesia.
This training program is part of the global technology giant's mission to provide the same training to 2.5 million people in the Southeast Asia region by 2025.
The training will be held in partnership with governments, non-profit organizations, corporations and communities in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
This program also includes AI skills training for vocational high school students through 'AI Teach for Indonesia' and opportunities to build a career in cyber security for women through Ready4AI & Security.
"AI is now widely used by people here as developers, bringing this technology to have a real impact on Indonesian society in various sectors," said Microsoft Chief Executive Satya Nadella in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
He also highlighted the important role of developers in utilizing AI to optimize Indonesia's potential as a digital economy country.
Microsoft will help drive the growth of the developer community in Indonesia through new initiatives such as AI Odyssey.
Satya Nadella hopes to help 10 thousand Indonesian developers become experts in the field of AI by learning new skills and obtaining Microsoft credential certificates.
"Our mission is to empower every person and every organization in Indonesia to take advantage of the next big AI wave and create surplus and economic value in society. That means skills are one of the most important considerations," he said.
More than 3.1 million developments in Indonesia have been recorded as having used GitHub, Microsoft's software development, collaboration and innovation platform.
This figure makes Indonesia home to the third largest GitHub developer community in Asia Pacific after India and China.
Satya Nadella stated that Indonesia is projected to become one of the five largest developer communities on GitHub globally by 2026.
Indonesia, he continued, is also considered to be experiencing the fastest developer growth in Asia Pacific with the number of developers on GitHub increasing by 31 percent from year to year in 2023.
In addition, Indonesia is witnessing a growth in the number of public generative AI projects on the GitHub platform of up to 213 percent year-on-year in 2023.
