7 Steps to Get Back Up After Experiencing Failure

7 Steps to Get Back Up After Experiencing Failure
Failure is an inseparable part of life.

At moments like these, we may experience shocks and devastation that can make it difficult for us to get back up.
After experiencing failure, of course we need time to recover. However, people who are mentally strong will usually use certain strategies to help themselves get through and recover from these difficulties.
Everyone can increase their resilience during difficult times by utilizing certain strategies.

Quoted from the Psychology Today page on Tuesday (26/3/2024), here are the steps to get back up stronger after experiencing failure.

1. Accept the failures we experience

We must realize that everyone has experienced failure in life, such as divorce, losing a job, and so on.
Some element of failure or setback is normal when taking risks and stepping out of your comfort zone, for example, to achieve certain goals.

Resist the urge to blame yourself excessively by accepting reality as it is.

2. Change your mindset

Mentally strong people are open-minded and flexible in solving problems and tend to avoid rigid thinking.
They talk to themselves positively and are resilient to overcome their failures.
For example, the late writer Wayne Dyer once said: "If we change the way we look at things, the things we look at will change."
Changing our mindset about failure allows for the creation of new cognitive framing and self-narratives.
Inventor Thomas Edison, for example, reframed his failed experiments to create a new self-narrative. He also believes that every failure takes him one step closer to finding a solution.

3. Take advantage of failure to grow

Looking back on a breakup, for example, can teach someone to pay more attention to red flags or intuitions they ignored at the start of the relationship.
So, by taking advantage of failure, we can not only bounce back but grow better in the future.
