TIME OUT, a UK-based travel magazine came out with a list of the world's best cities 2024. New York snatched the coveted top spot thanks to the sights, food, culture and beauty it has to offer.

New York is by far the city most urbanites want to live in compared to other cities.

The ranking was produced by a global survey of thousands of city residents who were asked about the quality and affordability of food, culture and nightlife in their cities.

This data was combined with the opinions of more than 100 Time Out staff writers and editors who frequently travel to cities around the world to determine today's most exciting cities.

The following is a review of the 10 best cities for 2024 according to Time Out magazine, as reported by the Daily Mail.

1. New York, United States

“New York topped this year's list of the world's best cities for its quality of life for local residents and global appeal for visitors,” wrote Time Out.

This city is ranked highest based on population, from food and drink, nightlife, culture and beauty. This city is also the place that city dwellers from all over the world would choose if they could move to another city.

2. Cape Town, South Africa

Cape Town won the silver medal thanks in part to its beauty. “From the heights of Table Mountain to the stunning beaches of the coastline, it's not hard to understand why every survey respondent said Cape Town is beautiful,” he wrote again.

Time Out continues the cultural splendor of a city that is ranked highest in the world for its quality, along with its many studios, galleries and public events.

3. Berlin, Germany

It's common knowledge that Berliners love to party. Nightlife in Berlin has an impressive approval rating of 82 percent.

Those looking for daytime or outdoor activities can cycle. Head to the city's green spaces, like Tempelhof Field—a former airport converted into a large park.

4. London, England

The survey results revealed that respondents admitted that London has a reputation as a miserable and rainy city. However, living in this city makes them happy.

This is definitely because there are many interesting things that can be done. From traditional to modern. Many of the museums and galleries are free, the parks are vast, and the pubs are legendary.

5. Madrid, Spain

Madrid is a friendly and lively city that stands out for its authenticity. Amazing views, food and drinks, and a vibrant culture.

Time Out added that last year, Salmon Guru was named one of the best cocktail bars in the world. David Muñoz was once again voted best chef and the Royal Collections Gallery became one of the most important museums in Europe.

6. Mexico City, Mexico

Mexico City gets high marks for livability. All local survey respondents said the city was beautiful, most said they were happy and it was easy to make friends.

7. Liverpool, England

Liverpool is home to the best large hotel in England – Titanic Hotel Liverpool. Time Out revealed that Liverpool scored 89 per cent for arts and culture affordability.

8. Tokyo, Japan

Time Out rates Tokyo as one of the most dynamic and innovative cities in the world. The teamLab Borderless digital art museum is one of the most exciting cultural openings in the world this year.

The city is also a world-class culinary hub, with some of Tokyo's greatest restaurants: Massimo Bottura's Gucci Osteria, Antwerp's Michelin-starred Le Pristine, and MAZ—a sibling of Peruvian 2023 World Best Restaurant Central.

9. Rome, Italy

Rome is a paradise for foodies. Another plus point, of course the architecture. Survey respondents agree that their city is beautiful, and it's no surprise that the majestic Colosseum, the intricately carved Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, and the Pantheon form the backdrop of their daily lives.

10. Porto, Portugal

Porto is one of the cities with the highest scores when it comes to romance. 82 percent of local residents say that finding love in Porto is easy.

Unfortunately, there is not a single city from Indonesia on the list of the world's best cities in 2024.
