Google Boss Warning to All Android Phone Users, Be Careful

- Google boss gave a warning to all Android users. They are asked not to sideload their devices.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that applications obtained through sideloading could increase security risks, namely that the device is vulnerable to malware infection.
Sideloading itself is a way when Android cellphone users can install applications outside the application store, such as from websites or other sources. However, this practice divides many people into two opposing opinions.
Both camps argue about the use of sideloading which will bring freedom to users, but there is also the issue of device security.
On the one hand, supporters of sideloading highlight flexibility and freedom. This practice gives users the freedom to access artificial applications that are not in the official application store.
Another point, sideloading also supports application developers who are reluctant to be tied to systems in official stores such as the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
However, just like Pichai, many also think sideloading carries big risks. Applications from official application stores are considered much safer because they go through many filtering processes.
Meanwhile, Apple does not want to give sideloading permission. The technology giant from the United States (US) made Google's statement to support its position and stated that its rivals knew exactly the potential dangers of these applications.
Sideloading also cannot be done on the iPhone. iOS is very exclusive, allowing all applications installed on Apple devices to go through the App Store.
However, Apple's stance may be a bit shaky with the European Union's new rules. The Digital Markets Act (DMA) will force companies to open sideloading mechanisms on devices.
Based on the regulations, sideloading is considered important to cover potential monopolistic practices. But so far, Apple is still opposing the law.
It is even reported that Apple will sue the European Union. The company considers that the App Store does not fall into the 'gatekeeper' category, where it must comply with these rules.

Berdasarkan aturan, sideloading dinilai penting untuk menutup potensi praktik monopoli. Namun sejauh ini, Apple masih menentang undang-undang tersebut.
Bahkan kabarnya, Apple akan menggugat Uni Eropa. Perusahaan menilai App Store tidak masuk dalam kategori 'gatekeeper', di mana harus mematuhi aturan tersebut.
