Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The leaders of the United States (US), France, Germany, Italy and the UK promised to support Israel. A joint statement was delivered Monday evening local time.
"This is in an effort to defend itself," said the countries quoted by AFP, Tuesday (10/10/2023).
"Recognizing the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people... but Hamas has nothing to offer the Palestinian people but more terror and bloodshed," he added.
The Guardian also published the same thing. In detail, this statement was issued after a telephone call between US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Italian Prime Minister (PM), Giorgia Meloni and British PM Rishi Sunak, .
"We make it clear that Hamas' terrorist actions have no justification, no legitimacy, and must be universally condemned," the Quint states.
"There is never a justification for terrorism," he added.
"In recent days, the world watched in horror as Hamas terrorists massacred families in their homes, slaughtered more than 200 young people enjoying a music festival, and kidnapped elderly women, children and entire families, who are now being held hostage." he said again.
"Our countries will support Israel in its efforts to defend itself and its people from such atrocities. We further emphasize that this is not the time for any party hostile to Israel to exploit these attacks for profit," the joint statement said.
Earlier, Sunday, it was reported that the US would send military aid to Israel. Even warships and fighter jets are starting to shift to the Eastern Mediterranean.
"A missile cruiser and four missile destroyers are heading towards the area," said US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin referring to the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, quoted by BBC International.
"US fighter jets will also be sent," he stressed.
The White House also confirmed that the aid would arrive within days. The US, Biden's office emphasized, is trying to ensure that Israel's enemies will not try to take advantage of this situation.
War between Hamas and Israel broke out Saturday. Hamas began a multi-pronged attack at around 6:30 a.m. local time with thousands of rockets aimed at Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, with some of them passing through the Iron Dome defense system and hitting buildings.
Gunfire continued into the evening between Israeli troops and hundreds of Hamas militias in at least 22 Israeli locations. The situation began to become chaotic because many civilians were involved in the firefight.
Hamas previously released images of several Israeli citizens being held hostage. Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari confirmed that "soldiers and civilians were kidnapped".
Hamas spokesman Khaled Qadomi told Al Jazeera that the group carried out its military operations in response to the atrocities Palestinians have faced for decades. Apart from that, Israel is also known to have carried out several attacks in the Al Aqsa Mosque area, which is a holy place for Muslims.
"We want the international community to stop the atrocities in Gaza against the Palestinian people, our holy places like Al-Aqsa. All these things are the reasons behind the start of this fighting," he said.
Currently, 1,500 people have died in the second war. As many as 900 are from Israel and 600 are Palestinians.

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Para pemimpin Amerika Serikat (AS), Perancis, Jerman, Italia dan Inggris berjanji untuk mendukung Israel. Pernyataan bersama disampaikan Senin malam waktu setempat.
Hal sama juga dimuat The Guardian.
