The famous hacker group from Russia, KillMilk, claimed to be the mastermind behind the hacking of the official website of the British royal family.

It was reported that the Royal Family's website, royal.uk, was shut down for 90 minutes at around 10.20 on Sunday morning (1/10).

"The website was down due to a Denial of Service attack for about an hour and a half. There was no access to our system or content," read a statement from the kingdom, as published by the Daily News. Not long after, KillMilk, through its Telegram upload, claimed that the cyber attack was carried out by them. The KillMilk attack came just two weeks after King Charles issued harsh criticism of Russia over its military invasion of Ukraine. The Royal Family are vocal supporters of Ukraine, with the King hosting President Zelensky for talks at Buckingham Palace in February. Hacker KillMilk claims to be the leader of the pro-Putin hacktivist group KillNet which regularly posts content on Telegram in support of Russia. It is known that the group was formed around March 2022 and is known for its attacks on government institutions and private companies around the world.

This is not the first time KillNet has attacked the Royal Family, as in November 2022 the website was shut down for several hours due to a DDoS attack.

Last April, the Five Eyes intelligence network, consisting of agencies from Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the US and the UK, warned that KillNet was a fanatical pro-Russian group that would attack anyone who supports Ukraine.
