Apple releases iOS 16.7.1 update to iPhones that don't accept iOS 17, users must install it

Apple has just rolled out iOS 16.7.1 and iPadOS 16.7.1 for users. This update is intended for Apple device users who did not get the iOS 17 update. 

Quoting information from Apple Insider, Wednesday (11/10/2023), Apple did not reveal in detail the updates presented with iOS 16.7.1. The company only said that this update provides an important security solution and is recommended for all users. 

It is known that the build number for this update is 20H30. To update, users just need to open the Settings > General > Software Update menu to get the update. 

Even though we don't reveal detailed information about this update, it is very likely that this iOS update will bring important updates because it concerns security. For this reason, users are advised to update immediately. 

For your information, Apple has rolled out the iOS 17 update to all iPhone users in mid-September 2023. This update brings a number of features along with feature improvements. 

However, not all types of iPhone can get this operating system update. Apple announced that iOS 17 cannot be downloaded by iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus users released in 2017. 

Which means, iPhones below or before iPhone X and iPhone 8 won't get this update either. So, what is the reason for Apple to cut iOS 17 support for their older devices? 

One of them is so that the company can provide optimal performance for cellphone models before the iPhone 15 series, and which do not have performance equivalent to the iPhone series of the last two or three years. 

Apart from that, it is said that a number of new iOS 17 features cannot be run optimally using the capabilities of older iPhones which still use the A11 Bionic chipset.

Apple baru saja menggulirkan iOS 16.7.1 dan iPadOS 16.7.1 untuk para pengguna. Update ini ditujukan untuk pengguna perangkat Apple yang tidak mendapatkan pembaruan iOS 17.

Mengutip informasi dari Apple Insider, Rabu (11/10/2023), Apple tidak mengungkap secara detail pembaruan yang dihadirkan lewat iOS 16.7.1. Perusahaan hanya menyebut update ini menghadirkan solusi keamanan yang penting dan direkomendasikan untuk semua pengguna.

Diketahui, build number untuk update ini adalah 20H30. Untuk melakukan pembaruan, pengguna tinggal membuka menu Settings > General > Software Update untuk mendapatkan pembaruan.

Kendati tidak mengungkap secara detail informasi pembaruan ini, besar kemungkinan update iOS ini membawa pembaruan penting karena menyangkut keamanan. Untuk itu, pengguna disarankan untuk segera melakukan pembaruan.

Sebagai informasi, Apple telah menggulirkan update iOS 17 ke seluruh pengguna iPhone pada pertengahan September 2023. Update ini menghadirkan sejumlah fitur disertai peningkatan fitur

Kendati begitu, tidak semua tipe iPhone bisa mendapatkan update sistem operasi ini. Apple mengumumkan iOS 17 tidak bisa diunduh pengguna iPhone X, iPhone 8, dan iPhone 8 Plus yang rilis pada 2017.

Yang berarti, iPhone di bawah atau sebelum iPhone X dan iPhone 8 juga tidak akan mendapatkan update ini. Lantas, apa alasan Apple memutus dukungan iOS 17 untuk perangkat lawas mereka?

Salah satunya adalah agar perusahaan bisa memberikan performa optimal untuk model ponsel sebelum iPhone 15 series, dan tidak memiliki performa setara dengan deretan iPhone dua atau tiga tahun belakangan ini.

Selain itu, sejumlah fitur baru iOS 17 disebutkan belum bisa dijalankan secara optimal lewat kemampuan iPhone lawas yang masih menggunakan chipset A11 Bionic.
