 - The European Union Commission opened up about the disinformation attack containing Russian propaganda regarding the invasion of Ukraine. According to the European Union, Russian hoaxes will circulate more rapidly on social media throughout 2023.

One social media that has been flooded with Putin's propaganda campaign is X (formerly Twitter). According to European Union findings, Russian hoaxes have increased after X was taken over by Elon Musk at the end of 2022.

The European Union report was published last week. Previously, the Kremlin's official social media accounts were also accused of spreading false information about the war in Ukraine.

"In terms of numbers, pro-Kremlin accounts have the largest audience on the Meta platform. Meanwhile, the growth of Kremlin-backed accounts tripled on Telegram," said the report, quoted from BBC, Monday (4/9/2023).

The BBC has contacted X, Meta, TikTok and YouTube for comment. However, until now no social media platform has opened its voice.
These findings make the European Union more aggressive in implementing the Digital Services Act (DSA) regulations. Under these rules, social media platforms are required to make content policies that are more stringent in eradicating disinformation and hate speech.

If social media fails to eradicate negative content on their platforms, the European Union will impose a fine of a certain amount.
One of the concerns is a tweet from Elon Musk on April 9. The billionaire said his platform no longer limits Kremlin-related accounts.
