Female Activist in Jayawijaya Killed by KKB
A female activist in Jayawijaya, Papua Mountains, was reportedly killed by an armed criminal group (KKB). The KKB accused this of being carried out by Indonesian intelligence.
Michelle Kurisi Ndoga was tragically killed by an armed criminal group (KKB) in Kimbim, Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Mountain Province, Tuesday (29/8). KKB accused the female activist, who is widely known by the public for her concern for the community and children in remote areas of Papua, as a member of the Indonesian government's intelligence service.
"This murder occurred after he was interrogated about his purpose on the way to Kwijawagi. Where he intended to collect data on war refugees from the Nduga community," said Papua Police spokesperson, Kombes Pol Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, in his official statement Wednesday (30/8) .
According to Benny, currently his party is carrying out further investigation and investigation to verify the veracity of the information regarding the intelligence allegations against Michelle.
"We have carried out a thorough investigation to reveal the truth of this information," he said.
For this reason, the police asked all people in Papua not to be provoked by the misinformation spread by the KKB.
"We invite all people in Papua and the wider community not to be provoked by propaganda by news that has not been proven true. Let's wait together for the results of the investigation which will provide clear clarification regarding this incident," said Benny.
The police also ensure that law enforcement and security remain a top priority in Papua.
We will continue to work to maintain order and security in the Papua region. "We will ensure that any violations of the law will be dealt with firmly in accordance with applicable law," Benny added.
TPNPB-OPM Admits Shooting Michelle Dead
Previously, the spokesperson for the West Papua National Liberation Army-Free Papua Organization (TPNPB-OPM), Sebby Sambom, said that his party shot Michelle dead because the female activist was intelligence from the Indonesian government.
"This is a strong warning to other native Papuans who are TNI-Polri agents in Papua. Remember, we will follow every step for native Papuans who become TNI-Polri espionators," he said, Tuesday (29/8)
Before Michelle was shot dead, TPNPB-OPM had been monitoring the female activist's movements. The murder was carried out after Michelle said she was in the area looking for data on war refugees from the Nduga community and mapping TPNPB-OPM bases throughout Papua.
"Indonesia used Michelle to collect data and map our bases throughout Papua. However, our intelligence has the data and followed her journey. After taking the data in Nduga, we have succeeded in killing her," said Sebby. [a/em]

Seorang aktivis perempuan di Jayawijaya, Papua Pegunungan, dilaporkan tewas dibunuh oleh kelompok kriminal bersenjata (KKB). KKB menudingnya sebagai perbuatan intelijen Indonesia.
Michelle Kurisi Ndoga tewas dengan mengenaskan dibunuh oleh kelompok kriminal bersenjata (KKB) di Kimbim, Kabupaten Jayawijaya, Provinsi Pegunungan Papua, Selasa (29/8). KKB menuduh aktivis perempuan yang banyak dikenal masyarakat kerena kepeduliannya pada masyarakat dan anak-anak di pelosok-pelosok Papua itu, sebagai anggota intelijen pemerintah Indonesia.
"Pembunuhan ini terjadi setelah dia diinterogasi mengenai tujuannya dalam perjalanan menuju ke Kwijawagi. Di mana dia bermaksud mengumpulkan data tentang pengungsi perang masyarakat Nduga," kata juru bicara Polda Papua, Kombes Pol Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, dalam keterangan resminya Rabu (30/8).
Menurut Benny, saat ini pihaknya sedang melakukan pendalaman dan investigasi lebih lanjut guna memverifikasi kebenaran informasi terkait tudingan intelijen terhadap Michelle.
"Kami telah melakukan penyelidikan yang teliti untuk mengungkap kebenaran dari informasi ini," ujarnya.
Untuk itu polisi meminta agar seluruh masyarakat di Papua agar tidak terprovokasi misinformasi yang disebarkan oleh KKB.
"Kami mengajak seluruh masyarakat di Papua dan masyarakat luas untuk tidak terprovokasi propaganda oleh berita yang belum terbukti kebenarannya. Mari kita bersama-sama menunggu hasil penyelidikan yang akan memberikan klarifikasi yang jelas mengenai insiden ini," ucap Benny.
Polisi juga memastikan bahwa penegakan hukum dan keamanan tetap menjadi prioritas utama di Papua.
Kami akan terus bekerja untuk menjaga ketertiban dan keamanan di wilayah Papua. Kami akan memastikan bahwa setiap pelanggaran hukum akan ditindak dengan tegas sesuai dengan hukum yang berlaku," Benny menambahkan.
TPNPB-OPM Akui Tembak Mati Michelle
Sebelumnya, juru bicara Tentara Pembebasan Nasional Papua Barat-Organisasi Papua Merdeka (TPNPB-OPM), Sebby Sambom, mengatakan pihaknya menembak mati Michelle lantaran aktivis perempuan itu merupakan intelijen dari pemerintah Indonesia.
"Ini merupakan peringatan keras kepada orang asli Papua lain yang menjadi agen TNI-Polri di Papua. Ingat kami akan mengikuti setiap langkah bagi orang asli Papua yang menjadi spionase TNI-Polri," ucapnya, Selasa (29/8)
Sebelum Michelle ditembak mati, TPNPB-OPM telah mengawasi gerak-gerik aktivis perempuan tersebut. Pembunuhan itu dilakukan setelah Michelle mengatakan sedang berada di daerah itu mencari data pengungsi perang masyarakat Nduga dan melakukan pemetaan basis TPNPB-OPM di seluruh Papua.
"Indonesia menggunakan Michelle untuk mengambil data dan lakukan pemetaan basis kami di seluruh Papua. Namun intelijen kami mempunyai data dan mengikuti perjalanan dia. Setelah ambil data di Nduga, kami telah berhasil bunuh dia," ungkap Sebby. [aa/em]
