PEARL OF ADVICE ALI BIN ABI THALIB

الصبرمن الإيمان بمنزلة الرأس من الجسد
"The position of patient is to the faith as the position of the head is to the body."[1]
إن الله تعالى جعل مكارم الأخلاق ومحاسنها وصلا بينه وبينكم
"Indeed, Allah has made noble morals and good manners as intermediaries between Him and you."[2]
وأحسن إلى من شئت تكن أميره
"Do good to whoever you want, then you will be the one he obeys."[3]
God bless you رحمة منه ليسوا بالمذاييع البذر ولا الجفاة المرائين.
“Fortunate to every hidden servant. He knows man, but man does not know him, and Allah knows him with pleasure. They are the lamps of guidance.
Allah removed every dark slander from them. Allah will include them in His mercy. They are not idlers who waste their merits, nor are they travelers who like to show off.”[4]
ألا أنبئكم بالفقيه حق الفقيه ؟ من لم يقنط الناس من رحمة الله ، ولم يرخص لهم في معاصي الله , ولم يؤمنهم مكر الله , ولم يترك القرآن إلى غيره.
"Would you like me to tell you who the real religious experts are? namely people who do not make people despair of Allah's mercy but also do not make them feel safe from Allah's punishment.
Do not give them leeway in committing disobedience to Allah, and do not allow the Qur'an to be abandoned because there are other sources of knowledge."[5]
God bless you ال والأولاد التماس القربة إليه في ارتفاع درجة عنده، أو غفران سيئة أحصاها كتبته، لكان قليلا فيما أرجو لكم من جزيل ثو ابه، وأتخوف عليكم من أليم عقابه
“Suppose you groaned like a woman who has lost her child, prayed like a dove, and cried out in prayer like monks.
Then you go out to Allah by abandoning property and children in order to seek closeness to Him in a high degree with Him, or hope for forgiveness for the sins that have been counted by His recording angels.
So I think it is unlikely that you will be rewarded, and I am worried that you will receive His painful punishment.”[6]
Islamic Education
"There is no goodness in worship that is not accompanied by knowledge, and there is no goodness in knowledge that is not accompanied by understanding, and there is no goodness in reading that is not accompanied by contemplation."[7]
خير أموالك ما كفاك
"The best of your possessions, is what suffices you (from begging)."[8]
God bless you all ي السراء والضراء. وجدوا في الطلب، وبادروا بالعمل مقطع النهمات، وهادم اللذات. فإن الدنيا لا يدوم نعيمها، ولا تؤمن فجائعها. غرور حائل، وشبح فائل
"Indeed, Allah did not create you in vain. On the contrary, He glorified you with an abundance of bounties, counted you with a thorough calculation, and waited for you to be rewarded.
Be earnest in your search, and be the breaker of pleasure and the destroyer of pleasure with charity. Because this world does not last forever and its surprises are not safe. Beware of the deception of the barrier, the shadow of the dreamer, and the leaning of the person who turns away.”[9]
واعتبروا بالآيات والأثر، وازدجروا بالنذر، وانتفعوا بالمواعظ. فكأن قد علقتكم مخالب المنية، وضمكم بيت التراب، ودهمتكم مقطعات الأمور بنفخة الصور، وبعثرة القبور، وسياقة المحشر، وموقف الحساب ، بإحاطة قدرة الجبار.
"Take advice from verses and atsar, and beware of warnings! It is as if death's noose has hit you, a house made of earth (grave) has overshadowed you, and the case breaker has stopped you with the blowing of the trumpet, the revival of the graves, the marching to the mahsyar, standing to be reckoned with, covered by the power of God Almighty. Mighty.[10]
God bless you ها: يا لا شيء اذهبي فأنت لا شيء، أنت أهون علي من أن أهبك لبعض أوليائي فتطوى كما يطوى الثوب الخلق فتلقى في ال نار
"On the Day of Judgment, the world will come with its most beautiful jewelry, then he will say: "O Lord, give me to some of Your lovers."
Then Allah said: “Go away, because you have no value. You are too despicable for me to give to some of My beloved." Then he is folded like old clothes, then thrown into hell.”[11]
التقوى: هي الخوفُ من الجليل، والعملُ بالتنزيل، والقناعةُ بالقليل، والاستعدادُ ليوم الرحيل
"Taqwa is that you fear the Almighty, practice the book that has been revealed, qana'ah for a small fortune, and always prepare to welcome the day of departure (death)."[12]
اتقوا الله تقية من كنع فخنع، ووجل فرحل، وحذر فأبصر فازدجر. فاحتث طلبا، ونجا هربا، وقدم للمعاد، واستظهر بالزاد، وكفى بالله منتقما وبصيرا، وكفى بالكتاب خصما وحجيجا، وكف ى بالجنة ثوابا وكفى بالنار وبالا وعقابا، وأستغفر الله لي ولكم
“Have fear of Allah as the fearful person submits and then submits, like the fearful person who is afraid and then runs away, and the fearful person who is vigilant then looks and steps aside, then he earnestly seeks the way, safe by running, arrives at the destination, and emitstock.
Sufficient is Allah as the all-rewarding and all-seeing. Enough of a charitable record as an adversary and presenter of arguments. Sufficient heaven in return. And sufficient is hell as a calamity and punishment..”[13]
الناس أعداء ما جهلوا
"Humans will tend to be hostile to something that he does not know."[14]
أشد الأعمال ثلاثة: إعطاء الحق من نفسك، وذكر الله تعالى على كل حال، ومواساة الأخ في المال
"There are three most severe deeds, namely giving rights from yourself, remembering Allah in every situation, and being lenient to fellow brothers in matters of property."[15]
كونوا لقبول العمل أشد اهتماما منكم بالعمل، فانه لن يقل عمل مع المتقوى
“Be a person who is more concerned about receiving charity than the charity itself. Because charity that is accompanied by piety is not a small charity."[16]

“There is no good in this world except that which belongs to one of two people. That is someone who commits a sin and then he covers it with repentance, or someone who hastens towards goodness.”[17]
God bless you سنت حمدت الله، وإن أسأت استغفرت الله
"It is not goodness in your abundance of wealth and your descendants. But goodness is in the number of your deeds, the size of your politeness, and being able to compete with humans with your worship of your Lord.
When you do good you praise Allah. And if you do bad then you seek forgiveness from Allah. "[18]
إن أخوف ما أتخوف عليكم اثنتين: اتباع الهوى، وطول الأمل، فأما اتباع الهوى فيصد عن الحق، وأما طول الأمل فينسي الآخرة
“In fact, what I fear the most is following my passions and wishful thinking. Following lust keeps away from the truth. And long wishful thinking makes you forget about the hereafter.”[19]
بكثرة الصمت تكون الهيبة
"Lots of silence will bring authority."[20]
من قصر بالعمل ابتلى بالهم
"Whoever does little in charity will be overwritten by the disaster of anxiety."[21]
وإن الدنيا قد ارتحلت مدبرة، والآخرة مقبلة، ولكل واحدة منهما بنون، فكونوا من أبناء الآخرة، ولا تكونوا من أ بناء الدنيا، فإن اليوم عمل ولا حساب, وغدا حساب ولا عمل
“Indeed, the world is moving away, while the Hereafter is getting closer. Everyone is a child of the two. Therefore, be children of the Hereafter, and do not be children of this world. Today is the day for charity without reckoning, and tomorrow is the day for reckoning without charity.”[22]
أنصح الناس وأعلمهم بالله؛ God bless you
"The most sincere human being and who knows Allah the most is the human being who has the greatest love and most glorifies the honor of the owner of the sentence lailaha illallah (Muslims)."[23]
العفاف زينة الفقر, والشكر زينة الغنى
"Restraining oneself from asking is the adornment of the poor, and gratitude is the adornment of the rich."[24]
نوم على يقين خير من صلاة على شك
"Sleep in a state of confidence (to God's promise) is better than praying but in doubt (on God's promise)."[25]

MUTIARA NASEHAT ALI BIN ABI THALIB

الصبر من الإيمان بمنزلة الرأس من الجسد
“Kedudukan sabar bagi iman itu seperti kedudukan kepala bagi tubuh.”[1]
إن الله تعالى جعل مكارم الأخلاق ومحاسنها وصلا بينه وبينكم
“Sesungguhnya Allah telah menjadikan akhlaq yang mulia dan adab yang baik sebagai perantara hubungan Dia dengan kalian.”[2]
وأحسن إلى من شئت تكن أميره
“Berbuat baiklah kepada siapapun yang engkau mau, maka engkau akan menjadi orang yang dipatuhinya.”[3]
طوبي لكل عبد نومة عرف الناس ولم يعرفه الناس عرفه الله برضوان أولئك مصابيح الهدى يكشف الله عنهم كل فتنة مظلمة سيدخلهم الله في رحمة منه ليسوا بالمذاييع البذر ولا الجفاة المرائين.
“Beruntunglah bagi setiap hamba yang tersembunyi. Dia mengenal manusia, tetapi manusia tidak mengenalnya, dan Allah mengetahuinya dengan keridhaan. Mereka itulah pelita hidayah.
Allah menyingkirkan setiap fitnah yang gelap dari mereka. Allah akan memasukkan mereka ke dalam rahmat-Nya. Mereka itu bukan pengumbar yang membuang-buang pahala, dan bukan pula pengelana yang suka pamer.”[4]
ألا أنبئكم بالفقيه حق الفقيه ؟ من لم يقنط الناس من رحمة الله ، ولم يرخص لهم في معاصي الله ، ولم يؤمنهم مكر الله ، ولم يترك القرآن إلى غيره.
“Maukah kalian aku khabarkan siapa ahli agama yang sebenarnya ? yaitu orang yang tidak membuat manusia berputus asa terhadap rahmat Allah tapi juga tidak membuat mereka merasa aman dari adzab Allah.
Tidak memberi mereka kelonggaran dalam melakukan maksiat kepada Allah, dan tidak membiarkan al-Qur’an ditinggalkan karena sebab ada sumber ilmu yang lain.”[5]
لو حننتم حنين الوله العجال، ودعوتم دعاء الحمام، وجأرتم جؤار متبتلي الرهبان، ثم خرجتم إلى الله من الأموال والأولاد التماس القربة إليه في ارتفاع درجة عنده، أو غفران سيئة أحصاها كتبته، لكان قليلا فيما أرجو لكم من جزيل ثوابه، وأتخوف عليكم من أليم عقابه
“Seandainya kalian merintih seperti rintihan perempuan yang kehilangan anaknya, berdoa seperti doanya burung merpati, dan berseru dalam doa seperti para rahib.
Kemudian kalian keluar menuju Allah dengan menelantarkan harta benda dan anak-anak demi mencari kedekatan kepadaNya dalam ketinggian derajat di sisi-Nya, atau mengharapkan ampunan atas dosa-dosa yang telah dihitung oleh para malaikat pencatat-Nya.
Maka menurutku kecil kemungkinannya kalian diberi pahala, dan aku justru mengkhawatirkan kalian akan menerima siksa-Nya yang pedih.”[6]
ولا خير في عبادة ليس فيها تفقه ، ولا خير في فقه ليس فيه تفهم ، ولا خير في قراءة ليس فيها تدبر
“Tidak ada kebaikan dalam ibadah yang tidak disertai ilmu, dan tidak ada kebaikan dalam ilmu yang tidak disertai pemahaman, dan tidak ada kebaikan dalam bacaan yang tidak disertai perenungan.”[7]
خير أموالك ما كفاك
“Sebaik-baik hartamu, adalah yang mencukupimu (dari meminta-minta).”[8]
فإن الله لم يخلقكم عبثا... بل أكرمكم بالنعم السوابغ، وأرفدكم بأوفر الروافد، وأحاط بكم الإحصاء، وأرصد لكم الجزاء في السراء والضراء. وجدوا في الطلب، وبادروا بالعمل مقطع النهمات، وهادم اللذات. فإن الدنيا لا يدوم نعيمها، ولا تؤمن فجائعها. غرور حائل، وشبح فائل
"Sesungguhnya Allah tidaklah menciptakan kalian sia-sia. Sebaliknya, Dia memuliakan kalian dengan limpahan karunia, menghitung kalian dengan perhitungan yang menyeluruh, dan menunggu kalian dengan balasan.
Bersungguh-sungguhlah dalam mencari, dan dahuluilah pemutus kenikmatan dan penghancur kelezatan dengan amal. Karena dunia ini tidak langgeng nikmatnya dan tidak aman kejutan-kejutannya. Waspadailah kecohan penghalang, bayangan orang yang berangan-angan, dan sandaran orang yang berpaling.”[9]
واعتبروا بالآيات والأثر، وازدجروا بالنذر، وانتفعوا بالمواعظ. فكأن قد علقتكم مخالب المنية، وضمكم بيت التراب، ودهمتكم مقطعات الأمور بنفخة الصور، وبعثرة القبور، وسياقة المحشر، وموقف الحساب، بإحاطة قدرة الجبار.
"Petiklah nasihat dari ayat dan atsar, serta waspadailah peringatan! Seolah-olah jerat kematian telah mengenai kalian, rumah yang terbuat dari tanah (kubur) telah menaungi kalian, dan pemutus perkara telah menghentikan kalian dengan tiupan sangkakala, kebangkitan kubur, penggiringan menuju mahsyar, berdiri untuk dihisab, dengan diliputi kekuasaan Tuhan yang Maha Perkasa.[10]
إذا كان يوم القيامة أتت الدنيا بأحسن زينتها، ثم قالت: يا رب هبني لبعض أوليائك، ويقول الله لها: يا لا شيء اذهبي فأنت لا شيء، أنت أهون علي من أن أهبك لبعض أوليائي فتطوى كما يطوى الثوب الخلق فتلقى في النار
“Pada Hari Kiamat nanti, dunia datang dengan perhiasannya yang paling indah, kemudian dia berkata: “Ya Rabbi, berikanlah aku kepada sebagian kekasih-kekasihMu.”
Lalu Allah berfirman: “Pergilah, karena kamu tidak ada nilainya. Kamu terlalu hina untuk kuberikan kepada sebagian kekasihKu.” Kemudian dia dilipat seperti pakaian yang usang, lalu dilemparkan ke dalam neraka.”[11]
التقوى: هي الخوفُ من الجليل، والعملُ بالتنزيل، والقناعةُ بالقليل، والاستعدادُ ليوم الرحيل
“Taqwa adalah engkau takut kepada yang maha Besar, mengamalkan kitab yag telah diturunkan, qana’ah terhadap rezeki yang sedikit, dan senantiasa bersiap menyambut hari kepergian (mati).”[12]
اتقوا الله تقية من كنع فخنع، ووجل فرحل، وحذر فأبصر فازدجر. فاحتث طلبا، ونجا هربا، وقدم للمعاد، واستظهر بالزاد، وكفى بالله منتقما وبصيرا، وكفى بالكتاب خصما وحجيجا، وكفى بالجنة ثوابا وكفى بالنار وبالا وعقابا، وأستغفر الله لي ولكم
“Bertaqwalah kepada Allah seperti tunduknya orang yang gentar lalu tunduk, seperti takutnya orang yang takut lalu pergi, dan seperti takutnya orang yang waspada lalu melihat dan menyingkir, lalu dia bersungguh-sungguh dalam mencari jalan, selamat dengan lari, tiba di tempat tujuan, dan mengeluarkan bekal.
Cukuplah Allah sebagai yang maha membalas dan maha melihat. Cukuplah catatan amal sebagai seteru dan penyampai argumen. Cukuplah syurga sebagai balasan. Dan cukuplah neraka sebagai bencana dan hukuman..”[13]
الناس أعداء ما جهلوا
“Manusia itu akan cenderung memusuhi sesuatu yang tidak dia ketahui.”[14]
أشد الأعمال ثلاثة: إعطاء الحق من نفسك، وذكر الله تعالى على كل حال، ومواساة الأخ في المال
“Amal yang paling berat itu ada tiga, yaitu memberikan hak dari dirimu, mengingat Allah dalam setiap keadaan, dan bersikap lunak kepada sesama saudara dalam masalah harta benda.”[15]
كونوا لقبول العمل أشد اهتماما منكم بالعمل، فانه لن يقل عمل مع المتقوى
“Jadilah orang yang lebih perhatian terhadap diterimanya amal daripada terhadap amal itu sendiri. Karena amal yang disertai dengan ketakwaan itu bukanlah amal yang sedikit.”[16]
ولا خير في الدنيا إلا لأحد رجلين رجل أذنب ذنبا فهو تدارك ذلك بتوبة، أو رجل يسارع في الخيرات
“Tidak ada kebaikan di dunia ini kecuali milik salah satu dari dua orang. Yaitu seseorang yang berbuat dosa lalu dia menutupinya dengan bertaubat, atau seseorang yang bersegera menuju kebaikan-kebaikan.”[17]
ليس الخير أن يكثر مالك وولدك، ولكن الخير أن يكثر علمك، ويعظم حلمك، وأن تباهي الناس بعبادة ربك، فإن أحسنت حمدت الله، وإن أسأت استغفرت الله
“Bukanlah kebaikan itu pada banyaknya harta dan keturunanmu. Akan tetapi kebaikan adalah pada banyaknya amalmu, besarnya kesantunanmu, dan bisa menyaingi manusia dengan ibadahmu kepada Tuhanmu.
Apabila kamu berbuat baik maka kamu memuji Allah. Dan apabila kamu berbuat buruk maka kamu memohon ampun kepada Allah.”[18]
إن أخوف ما أتخوف عليكم اثنتين: اتباع الهوى، وطول الأمل، فأما اتباع الهوى فيصد عن الحق، وأما طول الأمل فينسي الآخرة
“Sesungguhnya yang paling saya takuti adalah mengikuti hawa nafsu dan panjang angan-angan. Mengikuti hawa nafsu itu menjauhkan dari kebenaran. Dan panjang angan-angan itu membuat lupa kepada akhirat.”[19]
بكثرة الصمت تكون الهيبة
“Banyak diam akan mendatangkan wibawa.”[20]
من قصر بالعمل ابتلى بالهم
“Siapa yang sedikit dalam beramal akan ditimpa dengan musibah kecemasan.”[21]
وإن الدنيا قد ارتحلت مدبرة، والآخرة مقبلة، ولكل واحدة منهما بنون، فكونوا من أبناء الآخرة، ولا تكونوا من أبناء الدنيا، فإن اليوم عمل ولا حساب، وغدا حساب ولا عمل
“Sesungguhnya dunia itu terus menjauh, sedangkan akhirat terus mendekat. Setiap orang adalah anak dari keduanya. Karena itu, jadilah kalian anak-anak akhirat, dan janganlah kalian menjadi anak-anak dunia. Hari ini adalah hari untuk beramal tanpa ada hisab, dan esok adalah hari hisab tanpa ada amal.”[22]
أنصح الناس وأعلمهم بالله؛ أشد الناس حبا وتعظيما لحرمة أهل لا إله إلا الله
“Manusia yang paling tulus dan yang paling mengenal Allah adalah manusia yang paling besar cintanya dan paling mengagungkan kehormatan para pemilik kalimat lailaha illallah (kaum muslimin).”[23]
العفاف زينة الفقر، والشكر زينة الغنى
“Menahan diri dari meminta adalah perhiasannya orang miskin, dan syukur adalah perhiasannya orang kaya.”[24]
نوم على يقين خير من صلاة على شك
“Tidur dalam keadaan yakin (kepada janji Allah) itu lebih baik dari pada mengerjakan shalat namun dalam keraguan (atas janji Allah).”[25]
