Indonesia will host the 2023 U-17 World Cup
FIFA announced that Indonesia will host the 2023 U-17 World Cup. Indonesia will replace Peru.
Indonesia will host the U-17 World Cup. FIFA announced this in a release regarding the hosts in their nearest events.
"The council also appointed Indonesia as the host for the U-17 World Cup, Colombia as the host for the 2024 U-20 Women's World Cup, the Dominican Republic as the host for the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup and Uzbekistan as the host for the 2024 Futsal World Cup. The timing for each competition will be announced in accordance with the time agreed," said a FIFA release.
Indonesia replaced Peru as the host. Peru was appointed to host the 2023 U-17 World Cup which was planned to be held from 10 November to 2 December 2023.
However, FIFA later revoked Peru's status as the host for the 2023 U-17 World Cup. This decision was taken because Peru was deemed not ready in terms of infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Indonesia was originally the host for the 2023 U-20 World Cup. FIFA also canceled Indonesia's hosting status due to unfavorable conditions after the rejection of the Israeli national team.
Argentina will host the 2023 U-20 World Cup which will take place from 20 May to 11 June 2023. Uruguay managed to become champions in this event.
After the cancellation of hosting the 2023 U-20 World Cup, Indonesia was still given the opportunity by FIFA to host it. The U-17 World Cup is getting ready to be held in Indonesia possibly at the end of this year.
Indonesia Tuan Rumah Piala Dunia U-17 2023
FIFA mengumumkan Indonesia menjadi tuan rumah Piala Dunia U-17 2023. Indonesia menggantikan posisi dari Peru.
Indonesia bakal menjadi tuan rumah Piala Dunia U-17. FIFA mengumumkan hal tersebut dalam rilis terkait tuan dalam beberapa ajang terdekat mereka.
"Dewan juga menunjuk Indonesia sebagai tuan rumah Piala Dunia U-17, Kolombia sebagai tuan rumah Piala Dunia Wanita U-20 2024, Republik Dominika sebagai tuan rumah FIFA Piala Dunia Wanita U-17 2024 dan Uzbekistan sebagai tuan rumah Piala Dunia Futsal 2024. Waktu penyelenggaraan untuk masing-masing kompetisi akan diumumkan sesuai dengan waktu yang telah disepakati," bunyi rilis FIFA.
Indonesia menggantikan posisi Peru sebagai tuan rumah. Peru sempat ditunjuk menjadi tuan rumah Piala Dunia U-17 2023 yang rencananya digelar pada 10 November hingga 2 Desember 2023.
Namun, FIFA kemudian mencabut status Peru sebagai tuan rumah Piala Dunia U-17 2023. Keputusan ini diambil karena Peru dianggap tak siap secara insfrastruktur.
Sementara, Indonesia awalnya merupakan tuan rumah Piala Dunia U-20 2023. FIFA juga membatalkan status tuan rumah Indonesia dengan kondisi yang tidak kondusif setelah adanya penolakan kepada Timnas Israel.
Tuan rumah Piala Dunia U-20 2023 yang berlangsung 20 Mei-11 Juni 2023 dilimpahkan ke Argentina. Uruguay berhasil menjadi juara di ajang ini.
Setelah pembatalan sebagai tuan rumah Piala Dunia U-20 2023, Indonesia masih diberi kesempatan FIFA untuk menjadi tuan rumah. Piala Dunia U-17 bersiap digelar di Tanah Air kemungkinan pada akhir tahun ini.
