Ahok Top of Mind Cagub DKI Indicator Version, Here's PDIP's Response
The results of a survey by the Indonesian Political Indicator agency put the name Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (BTP) or Ahok in the 'top of mind' position regarding the 2024 DKI Jakarta Pilgub. PDIP DPP Chair Ahmad Basarah assessed that his party was focused on winning in the 2024 Presidential Election first rather than the 2024 Pilkada.
"We will discuss the presidential election first and then discuss the gubernatorial election after the presidential election," Basarah said at the Secretariat of the PDI-P DPP Presidential Election Volunteer Coordination Center, Jalan Diponegoro, Central Jakarta, Friday (12/5/2023).
According to Basarah, PDIP has a priority scale in the 2024 political year. For now, PDIP has just finalized the list of legislative candidates to the Indonesian KPU.
"Yes, PDIP will certainly have a priority scale, right now. Our priority scale yesterday, after working on compiling all Indonesian legislatures, we just registered them with the RI KPU and simultaneously throughout Indonesia, our DPD, DPC, now we are focusing on the presidential election," said Basarah.
"After the presidential election, Pak Ganjar will become president with the vice president, God willing, we will win again in the new legislative election, we will prepare a strategy for the regional elections in November 2024," he said.
When asked whether there was a chance for Ahok to run again from the PDIP, Basarah admitted that he had not spoken about it. He focused on PDIP's victory in the upcoming presidential election.
"We'll see, we'll see later, we haven't thought about the 2024 Pilkada strategy, once again we are still focused on the upcoming February 2024 legislative and presidential elections," he said.
