Supported by 80 Retired TNI-Polri Become Anies' Vice Presidential Candidate, AHY: I Catch Senior's Anxiety
Democratic Party chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) received support from a number of retired TNI-Polri officers so that he would become Anies Baswedan's vice presidential candidate (cawapres).
This was conveyed when receiving a visit from 80 retired officers in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, Saturday (1/4/2023).
"We also caught the anxiety of all the seniors who attended today, hopefully we can change it at the right time in 2024," AHY said in a statement received by Kompas.com, Sunday (2/4/2023).
He said this support was very meaningful to win the 2024 electoral contest.

The reason, he claims, is that retired officers are ready to fight to help the Democratic Party struggle with the Coalition for Change for Improvement (KPP). "That with me, behind me, there are patriots, there are seniors who are ready to support, not only with their blessing, but also to fight together when the time comes," he explained.
As for the meeting, the retired officers also attended an iftar with the Chairman of the Upper House of the Democratic Party, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY).
AHY admitted that he was very grateful because the retired officers wanted to provide their support.
"Our appreciation goes to gentlemen, who have dedicated their time, energy and thoughts to return to being at the forefront, to fight for change and improvement," he added.
It is known that one of the retired TNI-Polri officers present was Lt. Gen. TNI (Purn) Ediwan Prabowo, former Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense and Private Secretary to the President of the Republic of Indonesia in 2011.
Ediwan is the initiator of the Anies-AHY Pro Community Alliance (Maspro) which was established on March 5, 2023.
Currently, the Democrats have joined the KPP, which also includes the Nasdem Party, and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).
The three political parties agreed to leave the determination of the cawapres in the hands of Anies who has been nominated to become a presidential candidate in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).
