Hasto Calls Anies Not Dare to Take Action on the U20 World Cup, Democrats: Don't Respond to Silence
Chairman of the Democratic Party Membership and Cadreization Organization Development Board (BPOPKK) Herman Khaeron said PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto did not need to mention Anies Baswedan's stance on the polemic over Israel's participation in the 2023 U20 World Cup.
According to him, Hasto was exaggerating when responding to Anies' choice of attitude which chose to remain silent on this issue.
“Respond, yes, people talk, don't respond to silent people,” Herman said when met at the DPR RI Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday (6/4/2023).
He said that as a politician, Hasto only had the power to respond to other parties.
Therefore, Herman admitted that he was not surprised that Anies' attitude in choosing not to interfere in the polemic was also commented on by Hasto.
"So Pak Hasto is willing to respond to anything, I think Pak Hasto's capital is," he said.
Previously, Hasto felt that Anies was no longer the antithesis of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
He considered that Anies Baswedan did not have the same level as Jokowi as a statesman.
The reason is, Hasto said, Anies did not even have the courage to show his attitude regarding Israel's participation in the 2023 U20 World Cup.
“But with incidents like the U20 football (world cup), maybe you don't even have the courage to act. So it's too high to be raised as an antithesis," said Hasto in the Gaspol! program. on YouTube Kompas.com, Wednesday (5/4/2023).
It is known, FIFA has finally revoked Indonesia as the host of the U20 World Cup.
PDI-P was one of the parties that refused the arrival of the Israeli national team to Indonesia to take part in the event.
