Chairperson of the PDI Perjuangan (PDI-P) DPP, Megawati Soekarnoputri, reminded her party cadres who sit in the DPR RI to be really serious about working to prepare for the 2024 elections.
This was conveyed by Mega giving debriefing to members of the PDI-P faction at the DPR RI which took place behind closed doors at the Party School, on Jalan Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, Saturday (8/4/2023).
According to Mega, everyone must remember and live up to the principle that PDI-P is part of the pillars of the Indonesian state.
“No matter how many political parties there are in Indonesia, PDI-P must become part of the pillars of the country. This means that whenever this country exists, PDI-P must be the pioneer party that will become the pillar of this country," said Megawati as quoted by the PDI-P press release, Saturday.

This principle, continued Mega, must be realized in actions on the ground by cadres. The 5th president of the Republic of Indonesia said, PDI-P cadres must continue to be closer to the people, work for the interests of the people.
"If everyone is present, everyone has the same taste and is willing to work downwards among the people, we can definitely become a pioneer party," said Mega.
In facing the 2024 elections, Megawati reminded that all PDI-P cadres must help each other in the field.
"Politics is dynamic. So we must always anticipate. We can't just sit quietly, keep moving," added Mega.
In addition, he also reminded the members of the DPR RI to follow party rules.
Megawati welcomes to improvise on the field, but must remain disciplined.
“So do theoretical discipline, movement discipline, and action discipline. Also remember, avoid the comfort zone. Once we fall asleep in the comfort zone, then the desire to move forward will run out. So we must continue to learn, be dynamic, and be creative," he explained.
Furthermore, Megawati stated that in the midst of the duties of members of the PDI-P faction in parliament and down to the people, they must also strengthen understanding of ideology and geopolitics.
So that in taking a stand in responding to various global and national situations, PDI-P cadres can be firm in upholding the nation's ideology.
"Why should we become political people if we don't learn and understand the history of Indonesia, geopolitical theory, and how to practice it," said Mega.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the PDI-P DPP Puan Maharani who was also present at the event stated that the meeting on Saturday was important to ensure the alignment of the steps of the PDI-P DPP and its members in achieving goals in the 2024 elections.
Puan also encouraged all members of the PDI-P faction to work more diligently by going out into the community.
"So let's diligently go to the field and meet as many people as possible in the midst of carrying out our duties to attend meetings at the DPR," said Puan.
Puan also reminded that, according to the direction of the general chairman, all cadres must obey the principles and rules and not be easily divided.
"I hope that the solid faction and the incumbent candidates can retain their seats, plus work well with other candidates, so that we can increase the number of seats won by the party in 2024. Let's strengthen our internal solidity," Puan explained.
