 - Viral video of sighting hundreds of gold bars and money of fantastic value stored in a house. 

Apparently this extraordinary treasure was found in the house of a state official who worked as Mayor. 

Unmitigated, the total gold found reached 130 tons with an estimated value of IDR 9 trillion. 
In addition to gold, also found money as much as 30 billion pounds, or Rp 523.6 trillion. 
The money was stored in a bank account suspected of being the result of bribery.

The New York Post reported, During the corruption investigation, the police searched Zhang's basement and found 13 tons of gold bars. 


The gold bars were found in a secret warehouse of the man who once served as Mayor of Danzhou. 
After his crimes were exposed, it was reported that Zhang was immediately fired from his position as secretary of the Communist Party in Haikou, Hainan Province. 

Pictures and videos circulating showing police counting the gold found at Zhang's house have gone viral on social media. 


Zhang has been targeted by China's Corruption Eradication Agency as part of President Xi Jinping's anti-corruption campaign since 2013. 
Xi has previously said more than a million officials and dozens of former bureaucrats have been behind bars as a result of his programme. 
He stressed that efforts to eradicate corruption would never end because it had become a "grassroots threat" within the party. 

China is ranked 87th in the International Corruption Transparency Perceptions Index based on 2018 data. 
Transparency International said they were still highlighting China's way of dealing with eradicating corruption, especially within the Communist Party. 

"There are deficiencies in the independence of the judiciary, clarity on what corruption is, and transparency in the process of prosecuting violations," said Transparency International.

Recently, the attitude of the wives of state officials who like to show off their wealth has attracted attention. 
Head of the Vehicle Administration Subdivision of the General Bureau of the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg) Esha Rahmansah Abrar was even suspended from his position. 

This was done after Esha Rahmanshah's wife was caught frequently showing off her wealth or flexing on social media. 
Head of the Ministry of State Secretariat's Public Relations Bureau Eddy Cahyono Sugiarto said Esha's deactivation was taken to verify whether or not the information circulating on social media was true. 


"As a follow-up, Esha has been temporarily suspended from his position, to make it easier to verify the truth of the information that is developing," Eddy said in a written statement, Sunday (19/3/2023). 
Eddy said that the Ministry of State Secretariat has also formed an internal verification team to investigate Esha's assets and state civil servants within the State Secretariat. 


"The Ministry of State Secretariat will consult with the Corruption Eradication Commission, PPATK and other institutions to obtain facts and comprehensive data as a basis for following up on the irregularity in obtaining the assets of the officials concerned," said Eddy. 
He said the Ministry of State Secretariat would announce the results of the verification to the public as a sign of its commitment to eradicating corruption, collusion and nepotism as well as practices that are against the law. 

Eddy also apologized for the uproar that occurred as a result of the lavish lifestyle practices exhibited by Esha's wife.
