"Knocked in" Fortuner Driver in Crocodile Swamp, Police: I Was Pointed at and Scorned
The traffic police who were almost hit by a Toyota Fortuner on a road in the Rawa Buaya area, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, were pointed at by the driver.
It is understood that the officer is a member of the Cengkareng Aiptu Torus Marasi Prapat traffic police unit.
Torus admits that he also swore at the Fortuner driver. In fact, the driver was given a warning for violating traffic signs.
"He was screaming from the car, he talked a lot. He pointed at me, cursed at me," said Torus when contacted, Tuesday (21/3/2023).
The Fortuner driver asked Torus to pull over so the car could pass.
Torus said the luxury car was about to turn right towards the Rawa Buaya Highway using the third lane.
This route should have been used specifically for vehicles to go straight towards Grogol.
"(The driver said) 'I want to go straight, I want to go in front of you, I want to step aside for you.' As soon as he said it, what was that (cursing) at me. I remained silent," said Torus.
Even though he had received unpleasant treatment, Torus still directed the car to follow the rules and not turn right.
He drove the car by standing right in front of it. It was then, the Fortuner driver kept going and hit Torus' body.
"I kept directing it with my straight hand towards Grogol there, but he still insisted. He was still chattering in the car, I still directed him. The car went forward, I kept on holding it," he explained.
Torus said this incident occurred on Monday (20/3/2023) at 17.00 WIB.
At that time, Torus, who was directing traffic at a red light, was suddenly approached by a black Fortuner car.
"There was a car that immediately took a sharp turn, I blocked it. I ordered it to go straight ahead, instead of going straight, it ran into me.
Even though the car driver kept trying to speed up his vehicle, Torus admitted that he was holding out and directed the driver with hand signals. However, the Fortuner driver insisted on turning.
"My friend is there, still reminding me, 'You can't turn here, this is a lane with three road markings, you go straight'," Torus said, imitating his colleague's words.
After being reprimanded repeatedly, the driver finally relented. He then drove his vehicle according to the direction of the officer.
Meanwhile, based on the circulating video, the car has police number B 12 MGN.
According to a search for the license plate traced by the police, it appears that the car owner has the initials MRN who is domiciled in East Jakarta.
Apparently, the vehicle tax has died since 2020.
"When we checked the data, the tax was dead. When we checked again in the afternoon, it was already on, maybe we have monitored this incident," explained Torus.
When asked about the actions of the driver, Torus said that further investigation was still being carried out. He is also waiting for his leadership's decision regarding sanctions against the perpetrators.
"We are looking for whether there is a criminal element in the video, we are checking it," he explained.
Based on the video uploaded by the Instagram account @jakartabarat24jam, it can be seen that the traffic police were in front of the car.
Despite being blocked, the driver of the car just kept trying to pass.
You can even see the car body slightly bumping into the officers in the middle of the traffic jam.
Not long after, officers from the Department of Transportation and other police approached. One of the policemen can be seen talking to the car through the car window.
