5.5G Internet is claimed to be 10 times faster than 5G
In the past, after 4G technology was used massively, its development continued with 4.5G technology. 4.5G internet speed is claimed to be faster, namely the download speed reaches 300 Mbps, three times faster than 4G which is set at 100 Mbps.
Well, the same is done with 5G technology. Well, just like 4G which is continued with 4.5G, 5G technology will also be followed by 5.5G with an increase in download speeds of up to 10 times that of 5G.
If the prediction is correct, then the speed of 5.5G can reach 10 Gbps. Because, the current 5G speed is claimed to reach 1,000 Mbps (1 Gbps), 10 times the 4G speed which is set at 100 Mbps.
At least that's according to Huawei's Executive Director, David Wang, at the Global Mobile Forum held in Bangkok, Thailand, this week.
As is known, apart from making smartphones and laptops, Huawei is also a technology company from China that produces base transceiver stations (BTS) commonly used by cellular operators.
"After 5G, the next technology we focus on is 5.5G. This technology will be able to have a download speed of 10 Gbps, support billions of network connections, and help improve the experience of using smart devices," said Wang, quoted by KompasTekno from Gizchina, Monday (31/10/2022).
With a speed of 10 Gbps, a high-quality movie with a size of about 10 GB, is claimed to be able to be downloaded in just 1 second, in contrast to 5G which will download the same movie in 10 seconds.
However, just like 5G, this 10 Gbps speed will of course depend on various factors such as location, user traffic, and the device we use.
Wang did not reveal when 5.5G technology can be felt by general users. Currently, he said the technology was under development, and his party was focusing on perfecting the technology by focusing on several aspects.
"Our focus going forward is to improve capabilities in five important aspects, namely technology standards, spectrum, products, ecosystems, and 5.5G applications to create a smart and interconnected world," added Wang.
