Where is Heaven Located? This is the explanation

HOLIDAY NEWS - The location of heaven is a secret of Allah SWT. There is no proposition that explicitly explains the location of heaven. So, where is heaven located? 

Heaven is a place of return for believers. This is explained through the word of Allah SWT in Surah Az-Zumar verse 73, Allah SWT says,

وَسِيقَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ رَبَّهُمْ إِلَى ٱلْجَنَّةِ زُمَرًا ۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءُوهَا وَفُتِحَتْ أَبْوَٰبُهَا وَقَالَ لَهُمْ خَزَنَتُهَا سَلَٰمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ طِبْتُمْ فَٱدْخُلُوهَا خَٰلِدِينَ

Meaning: And those who fear God are brought to heaven in groups (too). So that when they reached heaven the doors were open and the guards said to them: "Prosperity (be bestowed) upon you. Blessed are you! then enter this heaven, while you will abide therein forever."

In the hadith, Rasulullah SAW said about the location of the highest heaven, namely Paradise Paradise,

God bless you وْسَطُ الْجَنَّةِ وَأَعْلَى الْجَنَّةِ أُرَاهُ فَوْقَهُ عَرْشُ ال رَّحْمَنِ وَمِنْهُ تَفَجَّرُ أَنْهَارُ الْجَنَّةِ » [أخرجه البخاري]

Meaning: "If you ask Allah, then ask for Paradise Paradise, indeed it is the highest and middle paradise which is under the Throne of Allah, and from there the river of paradise gushes." (HR Bukhari)

Where is Heaven, on Earth or Heaven? 

Referring to the book Instructions to Heaven According to the Qur'an by Lilis Nihwan, it is explained that the ulama have different opinions about the location of heaven. In general, there are those who think that heaven is located in the sky and some are on earth. 

Heaven in the sky is known as Ma'wa heaven. Many scholars believe that the Prophet Adam AS, indeed lived in heaven for eternity. Ma'wa Heaven above the 7th heaven. This refers to Surah Al-Baqarah verse 38, Allah SWT says in Surah Al-Baqarah verse 38,

قُلْنَا ٱهْبِطُوا۟ مِنْهَا جَم above لَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ

Meaning: We say: "Come down, all of you, from heaven! Then if My guidance comes to you, then whoever follows My guidance, there will be no worry for them, nor (nor) will they grieve."

In their opinion about heaven on earth, the ulama are of the opinion that Prophet Adam AS does not live in khuldi (eternal) heaven like the heaven that Allah SWT will prepare after the end of the world. 

Ibnu Qoyyim Al Jauzi in Miftah Dar As Sa'adah wan Mansyur Regional Expert Al-Ilmi wa Al Iradah, explains a number of main reasons for arguing that the paradise once occupied by the Prophet Adam AS was none other than on earth, not in the sky. 

Here are some opinions collected by Ibn Qoyyim Al-Jauzi about heaven:

1. Allah SWT promises eternal paradise (khuldi) after the end of the world. In reality, Adam and Eve only lived temporarily. 

2. Allah SWT calls heaven a place of reward. The reality is the testing ground (this is the nature of the world). 

3. Allah SWT calls heaven Daarus Salaam (a place of peace) without temptations. In reality, Adam and Eve were tempted by the devil. 

4. Allah SWT calls heaven Daarul Qaraar (a place to stay). In reality, it is not a place to stay forever. 

5. Allah SWT calls heaven clean from all disasters. In fact, the devil was able to deceive (this is part of the disaster) Adam and Eve. 

6. Allah SWT says that heaven is not a place for wicked creatures. In fact, the devil is also part of the evil creatures who live in heaven. 

Dimana Letak Surga? Ini Penjelasannya

HOLIDAY NEWS - Letak surga menjadi rahasia Allah SWT. Tidak ada dalil yang secara eksplisit menjelaskan tentang letak surga. Lantas, dimanakah surga berada?

Surga adalah tempat kembali bagi orang-orang beriman. Hal ini dijelaskan melalui firman Allah SWT dalam surat Az-Zumar ayat 73, Allah SWT berfirman,

وَسِيقَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ رَبَّهُمْ إِلَى ٱلْجَنَّةِ زُمَرًا ۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءُوهَا وَفُتِحَتْ أَبْوَٰبُهَا وَقَالَ لَهُمْ خَزَنَتُهَا سَلَٰمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ طِبْتُمْ فَٱدْخُلُوهَا خَٰلِدِينَ

Artinya: Dan orang-orang yang bertakwa kepada Tuhan dibawa ke dalam surga berombong-rombongan (pula). Sehingga apabila mereka sampai ke surga itu sedang pintu-pintunya telah terbuka dan berkatalah kepada mereka penjaga-penjaganya: "Kesejahteraan (dilimpahkan) atasmu. Berbahagialah kamu! maka masukilah surga ini, sedang kamu kekal di dalamnya".

Dalam hadits, Rasulullah SAW bersabda tentang letak surga tertinggi yakni surga Firdaus,

إِذَا سَأَلْتُمُ اللَّهَ فَاسْأَلُوهُ الْفِرْدَوْسَ فَإِنَّهُ أَوْسَطُ الْجَنَّةِ وَأَعْلَى الْجَنَّةِ أُرَاهُ فَوْقَهُ عَرْشُ الرَّحْمَنِ وَمِنْهُ تَفَجَّرُ أَنْهَارُ الْجَنَّةِ » [أخرجه البخاري]

Artinya: "Apabila kalian meminta kepada Allah, maka mintalah surga Firdaus, sesungguhnya ia adalah surga tertinggi dan tengah-tengah yang berada dibawah Arsynya Allah, dan dari sanalah memancar mata air sungai surga". (HR Bukhari)

Letak Surga, Di Bumi atau Langit?

Merujuk buku Petunjuk ke Surga Menurut Al-Qur`an karya Lilis Nihwan dijelaskan bahwa para ulama memiliki perbedaan pendapat tentang letak surga. Secara garis besar ada yang berpendapat surga ada yang terletak di langit dan ada yang di bumi.

Surga yang ada di langit dikenal dengan sebutan surga Ma'wa. Banyak ulama yang berpendapat bahwa Nabi Adam AS, memang pernah tinggal di surga keabadian. Surga Ma'wa di atas langit ke-7.

Hal ini merujuk pada surat Al-Baqarah ayat 38, Allah SWT berfirman pada surat Al-Baqarah ayat 38,

قُلْنَا ٱهْبِطُوا۟ مِنْهَا جَمِيعًا ۖ فَإِمَّا يَأْتِيَنَّكُم مِّنِّى هُدًى فَمَن تَبِعَ هُدَاىَ فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ

Artinya: Kami berfirman: "Turunlah kamu semuanya dari surga itu! Kemudian jika datang petunjuk-Ku kepadamu, maka barang siapa yang mengikuti petunjuk-Ku, niscaya tidak ada kekhawatiran atas mereka, dan tidak (pula) mereka bersedih hati".

Pendapat tentang surga yang ada di bumi, para ulama berpendapat bahwa Nabi Adam AS tidak tinggal di surga khuldi (abadi) sebagaimana surga yang nanti dipersiapkan Allah SWT setelah kiamat.

Ibnu Qoyyim Al Jauzi dalam Miftah Dar As Sa'adah wan Mansyur Wilayah Ahli Al-Ilmi wa Al Iradah, menjabarkan sejumlah alasan utama yang berpendapat bahwa surga yang pernah ditempati Nabi Adam AS tidak lain kondisinya ada di bumi, bukan di langit.

Berikut beberapa pendapat yang dihimpun Ibnu Qoyyim Al-Jauzi tentang surga:

1. Allah SWT menjanjikan surga abadi (khuldi) adanya setelah kiamat. Kenyataannya Adam dan Hawa hanya tinggal sementara saja.

2. Allah SWT menyebut surga itu tempat pahala. Kenyataannya tempat ujian (ini sifat dunia).

3. Allah SWT menyebut surga itu Daarus Salaam (tempat kedamaian) tak ada godaan-godaan. Kenyataannya Adam dan Hawa digoda oleh iblis.

4. Allah SWT menyebut surga itu Daarul Qaraar (tempat menetap). Kenyataannya bukan tempat menetap selamanya.

5. Allah SWT menyebut surga itu bersih dari segala bencana. Kenyataannya iblis bisa membohongi (ini bagian dari bencana) Adam dan Hawa.

6. Allah SWT menyebut surga itu bukan tempat makhluk fasik. Kenyataannya iblis juga bagian dari makhluk fasil yang diam di surga.
