HOLIDAY NEWS - A fairly popular blog provider site, WordPress, has recently become a topic of conversation on social media because it was on the block list by the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo).
One of them was uploaded by the account @timpenguinnas, on Saturday, August 3 2024.
In the thread, it appears that WordPress is included in the list of sites blocked by the Ministry of Communication and Information which can be seen on the Ministry of Communication and Information's content complaints page.
"WOYYY HOW COULD WORDPRESS BE BLOCKED BY KOMINFO?
@kemkominfo???," wrote the account.
If it is blocked, users cannot access WordPress to monitor the blog. Then, a warning page will appear that the site is not safe.
After going viral and becoming a trending topic on X, with 20.3 thousand posts. Now, August 4 2024, WordPress is back to normal and can be accessed as usual.
Regarding this, the Director General of Information and Public Communication at the Ministry of Communication and Information, Usman Kansong, explained that the temporary blocking was caused by a technical error at Kominfo.
According to him, several online gambling sites infiltrated via WordPress subdomains, causing blocking.
"But not the wordpress.com site," he said, quoted from Kompas.com.
Usman explained that Kominfo automatically blocks online gambling sites or sites suspected of carrying out illegal activities.
After re-checking, if the site is declared safe, the blocking will be lifted.
The data from the trustpositive.kominfo.go.id page shows various reasons for blocking sites by Kominfo.
From January to early August 2024, millions of sites or content have been blocked by Kominfo, such as sites that indicate gambling, SARA, pornography, and many more.
Blocking can also be done on sites related to illegal drugs and cosmetics, online fraud, and content that violates social and cultural values. Then, fake news or hoaxes, blackmail and other negative content can also be blocked by Kominfo.

HOLIDAY NEWS - Situs penyedia blog yang cukup populer, WordPress baru-baru ini tengah menjadi perbincangan di media sosial lantaran masuk daftar blokir oleh Kementerian Komunikasi dan Informatika (Kemenkominfo).
Salah satunya diunggah oleh akun @timpenguinnas, pada Sabtu, 3 Agustus 2024.
Pada utasnya, tampak WordPress masuk ke dalam daftar situs yang diblokir oleh Kemenkominfo yang bisa dilihat pada laman aduan konten milik Kemenkominfo

@kemkominfo???," tulis akun tersebut.
Jika diblokir, maka pengguna tidak dapat mengakses WordPress untuk melakukan pemantauan blog. Lalu, akan muncul laman peringatan bahwa situs tersebut tidak aman.
Usai viral dan menjadi trending topics di X, dengan jumlah 20,3 ribu post. Kini, 4 Agustus 2024, WordPress sudah kembali normal dan dapat diakses seperti biasa.
Terkait itu, Direktur Jenderal Informasi dan Komunikasi Publik Kemenkominfo, Usman Kansong menjelaskan, pemblokiran sementara tersebut disebabkan oleh kesalahan teknis di Kominfo.
Menurutnya, beberapa situs judi online menyusup melalui subdomain Wordpress, sehingga menyebabkan pemblokiran.
"Tapi bukan situs wordpress.com-nya," ujarnya dikutip dari Kompas.com.
Usman membeberkan, Kominfo secara otomatis memblokir situs judi online atau situs yang diduga melakukan aktivitas ilegal.
Setelah pemeriksaan ulang, jika situs dinyatakan aman, maka pemblokiran akan dicabut.
Adapun data dari laman trustpositif.kominfo.go.id menunjukkan berbagai alasan pemblokiran situs oleh Kominfo.
Dari Januari hingga awal Agustus 2024, jutaan situs atau konten telah diblokir oleh Kominfo seperti situs yang terindikasi judi, SARA, pornografi, dan masih banyak lagi.
Pemblokiran juga dapat dilakukan terhadap situs yang berkaitan dengan obat-obatan dan kosmetik ilegal, penipuan online, serta konten yang melanggar nilai sosial dan budaya. Lalu, Berita bohong atau hoaks, pemerasan, dan konten negatif lainnya juga dapat dikenai pemblokiran oleh Kominfo.
