What is DNS?
A DNS server or Domain Name System is a computer system that translates domain names (such as www.example.com) into IP addresses (such as 192.0.2.1).
When a user enters a domain name into a browser, the browser sends a request to the DNS server, asking to provide an IP address that can be used to connect to the web server hosting the website.
