Government Blocked Search Engine DuckDuckGo, Why? 

Recently there has been quite a lot of discussion on Reddit where it turns out that the DuckDuckGo search engine, which is very friendly towards privacy, has been blocked by the government. 

You can also check this blocking on the trustpositive.kominfo.go.id page by entering the domain duckduckgo.com, there it will appear that the domain duckduckgo.com is in Existing status. 

Well, this has also been confirmed by DuckDuckGo itself who said that their search engine has been blocked by the Indonesian government because it does not comply with their censorship policy, and unfortunately there is no way to unblock it. 

Why? 

One of the reasons why the government blocked duckduckgo was because this search engine did not comply with their censorship policy which, as we know, is different from Google or Bing, we can search for anything on DuckDuckGo because user privacy is everything. 

With this, sites that should be censored and blocked by the government will still appear on DuckDuckGo. 

However, in my tests without using DNS, VPN, relying on a Biznet internet connection and the default configuration of the system and browser, it seems that I can still open DuckDuckGo without any problems. 

However, if you use a provider from Telkom such as Indihome or Telkomsel, it is very likely that you will no longer be able to open DuckDuckGo. 

Now regarding this, according to user Ok_Art6263, this blocking is almost exclusive to Telkom only and other providers may delay the blocking.

Search Engine DuckDuckGo di Diblokir Pemerintah, Kenapa?

Baru baru ini cukup ramai diperbincangkan di reddit dimana ternyata search engine atau mesin pencari DuckDuckGo yang sangat ramah terhadap privacy telah diblokir oleh pemerintah.

Pemblokiran ini juga dapat kamu cek pada halaman trustpositif.kominfo.go.id dengan memasukan domain duckduckgo.com, disana akan tampil bahwa domain duckduckgo.com ada dalam status Ada.

Nah hal ini juga telah dikonfirmasi oleh DuckDuckGo sendiri yang mengatakan bahwa search engine mereka telah diblokir oleh pemerintah Indonesia karena tidak mematuhi kebijakan sensor mereka, dan sayangnya tidak ada cara untuk membuka blokir tersebut.

Kenapa?

Salah satu alasan yang membuat pemerintah memblokir duckduckgo adalah karena search engine ini tidak mematuhi kebijakan sensor mereka yang seperti kita tahu, berbeda dengan Google atau Bing, kita dapat mencari apapun di DuckDuckGo karena privacy pengguna adalah segalanya.

Dengan itulah, situs yang harusnya disensor dan diblokir pemerintah tetap akan tampil di DuckDuckGo.

Tetapi, dalam pengujian saya dengan tanpa menggunakan DNS, VPN, mengandalkan koneksi internet Biznet dan konfigurasi default sistem dan browser, tampaknya DuckDuckGo masih dapat saya buka dengan tanpa ada masalah.

Namun, jika kamu menggunakan provider dari Telkom seperti Indihome atau Telkomsel, maka besar kemungkinan bahwa DuckDuckGo sudah tidak akan lagi dapat kamu buka.

Nah mengenai hal tersebut, menurut pengguna Ok_Art6263, pemblokiran ini nyaris ekslusif di Telkom saja dan provider lain mungkin akan delay pemblokirannya.
