HOLIDAY NEWS – Google added several updates to the Play Store, its application store. One of the new things they added was the ability to access Play Store content via the Home screen.
This new capability, known as Collections, functions as a widget. When added to the home screen, users will see various categories from within the Play Store application arranged automatically by the system.
There are several categories that will be displayed, including Shopping, Games, Watch, Food, Read and Listen. Apparently, Collections will only feature six categories and additional icons to view more categories within the app.
"Now we're transforming Play from a destination people go to look for apps into a holistic experience that's more than just a store," Google said. "Each Collection highlights content from the apps you have installed."
Google says that this widget display will make searching, including shopping, easier from the home screen. Every time you click on the name of a category or product that appears on the screen, the user will immediately enter the application.
Each category displays different products. For example, Watch will show video recommendations from various streaming applications such as YouTube, TikTok, and others. The Reading category will feature a variety of e-books and audiobooks.
For the Listen category, users will see recommendations for music, podcasts, audiobooks and radio broadcasts from apps like Spotify and YouTube Music. Meanwhile, Shopping will display different baskets from e-commerce apps.
To add a Collection, users only need to press and hold the Google Play Store icon, then look for the menu to add the Collection widget. The way this widget is added may be different on your device and it is currently only being rolled out in the US.

HOLIDAY NEWS - Google menambahkan beberapa pembaruan di Play Store, toko aplikasi buatannya. Salah satu hal baru yang mereka tambahkan adalah kemampuan mengakses konten Play Store melalui layar Beranda.
Kemampuan baru yang disebut sebagai Koleksi ini berfungsi sebagai widget. Saat ditambahkan ke layar beranda, pengguna akan melihat berbagai kategori dari dalam aplikasi Play Store yang disusun secara otomatis oleh sistem.
Ada beberapa kategori yang akan ditampilkan, di antaranya Belanja, Game, Tonton, Makanan, Baca, dan Dengarkan. Sepertinya, Koleksi hanya akan menampilkan enam kategori dan ikon tambahan untuk melihat lebih banyak kategori di dalam aplikasi.
"Kini kami mengubah Play dari destinasi yang dikunjungi orang untuk mencari aplikasi menjadi pengalaman menyeluruh yang lebih dari sekadar toko," kata Google. "Setiap Koleksi menyoroti konten dari aplikasi yang telah Anda instal."
Google mengatakan bahwa tampilan widget ini akan mempermudah pencarian, termasuk berbelanja, dari layar beranda. Setiap mengeklik nama kategori atau produk yang terlihat di layar, pengguna akan langsung masuk ke dalam aplikasi.
Masing-masing kategori menampilkan produk yang berbeda. Misalnya, Tonton akan memperlihatkan rekomendasi video dari berbagai aplikasi streaming seperti YouTube, TikTok, dan lainnya. Kategori Baca akan menampilkan berbagai e-book dan buku audio.
Untuk kategori Dengarkan, pengguna akan melihat rekomendasi musik, podcast, buku audio, dan siaran radio dari aplikasi seperti Spotify dan YouTube Music. Sementara itu, Belanja akan menampilkan berbagai keranjang dari aplikasi e-commerce.
Untuk menambahkan Koleksi, pengguna hanya perlu menekan dan menahan ikon Google Play Store, lalu cari menu untuk menambahkan widget Koleksi. Cara penambahan widget ini mungkin berbeda di perangkat Anda dan saat ini widgetnya baru diluncurkan di AS.
