It's Official, Then Mohammad Zohri Qualifies for the 2024 Paris Olympics!
RUNNER from Indonesia, Lalu Muhammad Zohri, has confirmed that he will appear at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Zohri is certain to appear in the biggest multi-event sports tournament in the world after he received a Universality Place allocation.
"Then Muhammad Zohri qualified to represent Indonesia at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the Men's 100m Athletics event through the Universality Place allocation. "This is the second time Zohri has appeared at the Olympics after Tokyo 2020," wrote the official Instagram account of the National Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia), quoted on Tuesday (25/6/2024).
As mentioned earlier, this is the second time Zohri has qualified for the Olympics. Previously, the sprinter from Lombok appeared in Tokyo to represent Indonesia in the same number.
Now, Zohri has received a Universality Place allocation or a lifeline for underrepresented athletes from the National Olympic Committee. According to the official Olympic page, Universalirt Place is available in a selected sports qualification system for countries that usually have small delegations.
Zohri's qualification increases the number of Indonesian athletes at the 2024 Paris Olympics to 24. Previously, there were already 9 sports that would represent Indonesia in this prestigious sports tournament.
The sports are weightlifting, badminton, archery, gymnastics, surfing, rock climbing, bicycle racing, shooting and rowing. Zohri will be an athlete from Indonesia's first athletics sport at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

-- Indonesian sprinter Lalu Zohri is certain to compete in the 2024 Olympics, which will be his second opportunity to compete in the world sporting event after three years ago.
The Indonesian National Olympic Committee (NOC) confirmed the qualification of the short distance runner from NTB in a post on Instagram, Tuesday (25/6) afternoon.
"Then Muhammad Zohri qualified to become Indonesia's representative at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the men's 100m athletics event through the Universality Place allocation," wrote the Indonesian NOC statement.
The upload of NOC Indonesia on its social media account received a warm welcome from netizens who encouraged the gold medalists at the 2018 Asian Junior Championship and U-20 World Championship.
Zohri's best time in the 100 meter category was 10.03 seconds recorded at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix, Osaka, Tokyo in 2019.
For Zohri, this will be the second Olympics after competing in Tokyo three years ago. At that time Zohri recorded a time of 10.26 seconds and stopped in the heat or preliminary round.
Zohri is an elite athlete and Indonesia's mainstay in short distance running in athletics.
With the certainty that Zohri will compete in the Olympics, Indonesia has 27 athletes who are certain to appear in Paris.
In the last week, Indonesia added three athletes who qualified for the 2024 Olympics, two from rock climbing and one from judo.
From the rock climbing branch: Veddriq Leonardo and Rajiah Sallsabillah qualified for Paris on Sunday (23/6), while Maryan March Maharani from Judo qualified today.
Both Veddriq and Rajiah will go to the four-yearly multievent after placing in the top three in the qualifying round. Meanwhile, Maryam qualified through quota qualifications. To date, badminton has contributed the most Indonesian athletes to the 2024 Olympics with nine athletes.
