Celebrities Who Used Recycling at the 2024 Met Gala
- The biggest, star-studded fashion night Met Gala usually focuses on unique new clothes, but this year the topic of sustainability with recycled materials is in the spotlight because it is rarely talked about.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Tuesday 7 May 2024, several celebrities decided to wear dresses made from recycled products.
Here are some of them:

Designer Stella McCartney accompanied actress and model Cara Delevingne, singer FKA Twigs, and singer Ed Sheeran on the Met Gala red carpet in her recycled dresses. This British designer creates a special look for each of his guests, all made from 100 percent environmentally friendly materials.
The designer brand collaborated with eco-friendly jewelry company VRAI for Delevingne and Sheeran's looks. Delevingne wore a hooded backless diamond corset, created using more than 500 carats of VRAI diamonds. The corset was paired with a skirt from McCartney made from forest-friendly viscose and bio-acetate cady.
2. Charli XCX

Charli Another star who wore a sustainable dress was pop singer Charli XCX who chose to use recycled materials in her appearance at the Met Gala. The 31-year-old singer wore a white Marni dress made from t-shirts from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. She told Vogue on the red carpet that she wanted to wear a look made from “staples” like white T-shirts.
3. Demi Moore

Additionally, Demi Moore arrived in a stunning custom gown by British-American designer Harris Reed. Not only does her sculptural dress stand out, it also uses recycled materials. On Vogue's live broadcast, Harris explained that the dress was made from vintage archival wallpaper which is silk embroidered over 11,000 hours with a blooming floral design.
4. Amanda Seyfried
Dropout star Amanda Seyfried specifically asked her stylist Elizabeth Stewart for an eco-friendly dress, according to the New York Times. The actress wore a Prada dress made from leftover fabric for Monday's party. Seyfried emphasized how important sustainability is to him. “If I go to the Met ball, I have to have solar panels on my head, or I won't go,” he joked.
5. Maria Sharapova
Tennis star Maria Sharapova wore a bright yellow gown created by a collaboration between fashion designer Prabal Gurung and luxury bedding brand Boll & Branch. Both the designer and the brand share strong guiding principles centered on sustainability, according to a release. The dress is made from 100 percent Boll & Branch organic cotton ethically sourced from family-owned farms in India.
6. Madelyn Cline
Outer Banks star Madelyn Cline attended fashion's biggest night with Tommy Hilfiger and K-Pop supergroup Stray Kids. The 26-year-old actress chose to accessorize with a Tommy Hilfiger mini handbag from eBay that the designer upcycled with material from her dress. Klein's two tennis necklaces and beautiful earrings also came from eBay.
