Story Imam Malik bin Dinar Al Sami, who has karomah walks on sea water
The story of Imam Malik bin Dinar Al Sami, who repented in the month of Sha'ban and had
Karamah walks on sea water until he is given dinars by fish in the middle of the sea
Malik bin Dinar al-Sami', a scholar in the 2nd century Hijriyah, was born in Kufa, Iraq and died around 130 Hijriyah / 748 AD. Inspiring stories from the sea.
Malik Bin Dinar Al-Sami' was the son of a Persian slave from Sijistan (Kabul), and was a student of "Imam Hasan al-Basri". A famous Sufi. When he was young, Malik Bin Dinar Malik Bin Dinar was known as a thug who liked to drink in the 2nd century Hijriyah.
He did almost all kinds of disobedience until finally Allah's guidance came to him. Malik Bin Dinar is a very handsome man, likes to have fun and has abundant wealth.
A Beautiful Slave and a Much Loved Spoiled Child
Sheikh Abu Bakar bin Muhyiddin al-Ahsani al-Farafuri ash-Shafi'i in one of his books explains that one day Malik bin Dinar was carrying out a prohibited activity in Islam, namely drinking Khamar. At the same time, one of his friends offered him a beautiful slave.
Without thinking, Malik bin Dinar immediately agreed and bought it in cash. In fact, because her beauty surpassed that of slaves in general, she was bought at a very high price.
After living together with Malik bin Dinar for some time, the slave became pregnant and finally gave birth. As a father, of course he loves his child very much. Even when the child made a mistake, for example every time Malik bin Dinar wanted to drink wine, the child always took it and spilled it on his father's clothes. Despite this, he never scolded her, instead he loved her even more.
At the same time, precisely when Malik bin Dinar was really in love with her (some scholars said she was two years old, some said one year), Allah's fate said differently, the child died. As a father, of course he is very sad when his only child leaves when he loves him.
The Beginning of Repentance
After the child left, his sadness always increased. He always remembered the figure of a little boy who was with him every day and night, and even spilled his liquor, but at that time he no longer sat with him.
Sheikh Abu Bakr asy-Shafi'i told the story, he said,
This means, "When the night is in the middle of the month of Sha'ban and that night (coincides) with Friday night, I drink khamr (then sleep) and don't pray Isha." (Syekh Abu Bakar, al-Yaqutu wal Marjan fi Fadhaili Syahris Sya'ban, [at-Tsaqafah al-Islamiyah: 2019], page 100).
When Malik bin Dinar was sleeping soundly, suddenly in his sleep he dreamed that it was as if the apocalypse had come, the trumpet had been blown, the dead had been raised, all creatures had been gathered. Then he heard movement behind him. However, when he saw it turned out there was a very large snake that opened its mouth to eat him.
At the same time, he was very surprised and ran away to avoid it. In the midst of his confusion, he found the figure of a Sheikh dressed in white sitting quietly. Malik bin Dinar said to him, “O Sheikh! Please help me, protect me from that snake."
However, the Sheikh actually told him to run, because the snake's strength exceeded his. Hearing the answer, Malik bin Dinar panicked even more and ran far away, climbing the cliffs of hell. At the same time, hell said to him, “Come back! Because you are not a resident of hell,"
Listening to the words of hell, he happily renounced it. However, the snake still chased after him to eat him. A moment later, Malik bin Dinar went to one place, where he saw curtains in which many small children could be seen together with angels, including his son who died at the age of five. However, again the snake continued to chase him to eat him.
At the same time, the son said, "My father, by Allah," then he jumped like an arrow and he stretched out his left hand to his father's right hand while pulling it. And, stretched out his right hand to the big snake, but suddenly the snake that was originally going to eat his father suddenly disappeared.
After that, the child sat his father down, then said to him by reciting verses from the Koran, “O my Father! 'Has not the time come for those who believe to solemnly remember Allah and obey the truth that has been revealed to them,' (QS Al-Hadid: 16)."
Malik bin Dinar wept uncontrollably, then said to his son, “O my son! Tell me about the snake and the Sheikh who was dressed in white," the child then answered,
Meaning, “He is your bad work, which you have been doing, so he will plunge you into hell. Meanwhile, he (the Sheikh) did your good work, but you weakened him, so that he did not have the ability to (help) with your bad work." (Abu Bakar, al-Yaqutu wal Marjan, 2019, p. 100).
At the same time, Malik bin Dinar woke up and was so sorry that he cried uncontrollably. He also destroyed all his liquor bottles and repented to Allah swt.
Imam Malik bin Dinar is one such scholar who is ascetic. Anything that makes his heart forget God will be abandoned. His entire life was dedicated only to Allah and the teachings of Islam brought by the Prophet Muhammad SAW.
The various compliments that people give him do not make him complacent, nor do the various insults make him hurt. He completely forgot about the world and all its pleasures, and only focused on Allah SWT.
Apart from that, Imam Malik bin Dinar is also known as a hadith scholar or muhaddits. His contribution and contributions to the development of the words of the Prophet were very large and numerous. Imam ad-Dzahabi in his book presents various comments from scholars about it.
Among other things, according to Imam an-Nasai and confirmed by Imam al-Bukhari, the quality of the hadith narrated by Malik bin Dinar has a hasan (good) degree.
In the book it is also stated, citing the opinion of Imam Ali bin al-Madini, that the number of hadiths narrated by Malik bin Dinar is at least 40 hadiths, all of which have the degree of hasan. (Imam ad-Dzahabi, Siyaru A'lami an-Nubala, [Darul Ashimah: 1410], juz V, page: 362).
Malik Bin Dinar is listed as an expert on Sahih Hadith and narrates Hadith from religious figures in the past such as Anas bin Malik and Ibn Sirin.
Malik Bin Dinar was also known as a famous expert in Al-Qur'an calligraphy at that time. Malik also came to India to spread Islam in the Indian region.
One of Malik Bin Dinar's stories is about walking on water.
The story of Malik Bin Dinar is explained in the book entitled Tadhkirat al-Auliya', writing the life story of Malik bin Dinar in 1177 AD.
Tells the story of a time when Malik bin Dinar boarded a boat.
Once in the middle of the ocean, the crew of the boat came and asked Malik Bin Dinar.
"Pay your travel expenses, said the boat crew. I don't have any money," answered Malik. Then the boat crew beat him until Malik Bin Dinar fainted.
When Malik Bin Dinar regained consciousness, they asked again, "Pay your travel expenses," said the boat crew. "I don't have any money," answered Malik Bin Dinar once again.
Then a second time they beat him until he fainted. When Malik Bin Dinar regained consciousness, they pressed for the third time.
"Pay for your travel expenses. I don't have any money," replied Malik Bin Dinar. Because he was annoyed and angry with Malik Bin Dinar's answer, the boat crew then told the other crew.
"Let's throw him out and throw him into the sea," the sailors shouted. Then at that moment all the fish in the sea raised their heads to the surface of the water and each of the fish carried two gold dinars in its mouth.
Malik Bin Dinar reached out his hand to a fish that appeared on the surface of the water. Then from the mouth of a fish he took two dinars. Then he gave the money to the boat crew who beat him earlier. Seeing this incident, the ship's crew were frightened and immediately knelt down.
Then Malik Bin Dinar was about to leave the boat he was on by walking on the water. Seeing this incident made the crew of the ship stunned.
Malik Bin Dinar then left the boat. This is the reason why he was named Malik bin Dinar.
That is the story of karomah from Malik bin Dinar. Hopefully from this story Allah will increase our knowledge and increase our faith.***

Hampir segala macam kemaksiatan dikerjakannya hingga akhirnya hidayah Allah datang menghampirinya.
Awal Mula Tobat
Setelah kepergian sang anak, kesedihannya selalu bertambah.
Syekh Abu Bakar asy-Syafi’i mengisahkan kisah itu, ia mengatakan,
(Abu Bakar, al-Yaqutu wal Marjan, 2019, h. 100).
