Shin Tae Yong: Beware Uzbekistan's Playing Style, Typical European Teams

- The steps of the Indonesian U23 National Team towards the 2024 Paris Olympics are wide open.
The condition is that in the semifinal round of the U23 Asian Cup, they are able to beat the Uzbekistan U23 National Team, which in the quarter-final match beat Saudi Arabia with a score of 2 – 0 at the Khalifa International Stadium, Doha, Qatar, Friday night WIB.
Exco member of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Arya Sinulingga believes that Shin Tae Yong has studied the playing style of the Uzbekistan U23 National Team before playing against Indonesia. "We believe Shin Tae yong has studied Uzbekistan's style of play.
"Indeed, this team also has smells (playing style) that resemble European countries such as Russia (which relies on physical strength)," said Arya Sinulingga. The Uzbekistan U23 National Team became the most productive team at the 2024 Qatar U23 Asian Cup by scoring 12 goals.
However, the Uzbekistan U23 National Team may have to lose one of its strikers, Norchaev Khuisain, who was withdrawn in the 80th minute against Saudi Arabia due to injury. The Indonesian U23 national team, on the other hand, lost Rafael Struick due to the accumulation of yellow cards received in the match against South Korea.
Luckily, Shin Tae Yong's squad has an advantage in terms of stamina because they get more rest time compared to Uzbekistan. Therefore, Arya Sinulingga hopes that this recovery time can be used by the coaching team to restore the physical condition of the Garuda Muda squad before fighting against Uzbekistan.
"We have advantages in terms of physical recovery, hopefully tomorrow in the semifinals we can face Uzbekistan optimally," said Arya Sinulingga. The Indonesian U23 national team only needs one more win to lock in tickets for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Three teams, from champion to third place in the 2024 U23 Asian Cup, have the right to represent the Asian Continent at the Paris Olympics.
Fourth place still has a chance to go to the Paris Olympics as long as in the playoff round it beats fourth place at the 2023 Africa U23 Cup, Guinea U23.
The playoff match will take place in Japan on May 9 2024.

- Langkah Timnas U23 Indonesia menuju Olimpiade Paris 2024 terbuka lebar. Syaratnya pada babak semifinal Piala Asia U23 mampu mengalahkan Timnas U23 Uzbekistan yang pada laga perempat final mengalahkan Arab Saudi dengan skor 2 – 0 di Khalifa International Stadium, Doha, Qatar, Jumat malam WIB.
Anggota Exco Persatuan Sepak Bola Seluruh Indonesia (PSSI) Arya Sinulingga yakin Shin Tae yong sudah mempelajari gaya permainan Timnas U23 Uzbekistan sebelum melawan Indonesia. "Kita yakin Shin Tae yong telah mempelajari gaya permainan Uzbekistan.
Memang tim ini juga mempunyai bau-bau (gaya bermain) menyerupai negara Eropa seperti Rusia (yang mengandalkan kekuatan fisik)," kata Arya Sinulingga.Timnas U23 Uzbekistan menjadi tim paling produktif pada ajang Piala Asia U23 2024 Qatar dengan mencetak 12 gol. Namun, Timnas U23 Uzbekistan kemungkinan harus kehilangan salah satu penyerangnya, Norchaev Khuisain yang ditarik keluar pada menit ke-80 saat menghadapi Arab Saudi karena cedera.
Timnas U23 Indonesia di lain sisi kehilangan Rafael Struick karena akumulasi kartu kuning yang diperoleh pada laga kontra Korea Selatan.
Beruntungnya skuad asuhan Shin Tae yong mempunyai keunggulan dari segi stamina lantaran mendapatkan waktu istirahat lebih dibandingkan dengan Uzbekistan. Oleh karena itu, Arya Sinulingga berharap waktu pemulihan ini bisa dimanfaatkan tim pelatih untuk mengembalikan kondisi fisik skuad Garuda Muda sebelum bertempur melawan Uzbekistan.
"Kita mempunyai kelebihan dari segi pemulihan fisik, semoga besok pada semifinal bisa menghadapi Uzbekistan secara maksimal," ujar Arya Sinulingga.
Timnas U23 Indonesia hanya membutuhkan satu kemenangan lagi untuk mengunci tiket Olimpiade Paris 2024. Tiga tim, mulai dari juara hingga peringkat ketiga Piala Asia U23 2024 berhak mewakili Benua Asia ke Olimpiade Paris. Untuk peringkat keempat masih berpeluang ke Olimpiade Paris asal pada pada babak playoff mengalahkan rangking keempat Piala Afrika U23 2023, Guinea U23.
Laga playoff akan berlangsung di Jepang pada 9 Mei 2024 mendatang.
