- The Queen of Pop Music, Madonna seems to have a bad habit of holding concerts late. This made him have to face another lawsuit.
This time the lawsuit came from spectators who attended his concert in Washington D.C., United States some time ago. Madonna is considered to have shown disrespect for her fans with her late concert.
Meanwhile, the lawsuit against Madonna was filed in D.C. federal court on Friday, April 19 last week.
Three fans, Elizabeth Halper-Asefi, Mary Conoboy, and Nestor Monte, Jr. claimed that the diva broke the law by arriving on stage two hours late during her performance at the Capital One Arena in December 2023.
The lawsuit also includes the promoter, Live Nation, as the defendant.
"Forcing consumers to wait hours for her performance in a hot and uncomfortable arena shows Madonna's arrogance and disrespect for her fans," the plaintiff's lawyer wrote in a statement, citing Billboard.
“In essence, Madonna and Live Nation are consumers' worst nightmares,” he continued.
The plaintiff's lawyer said the lawsuit did not mean his client didn't want to wait until late at night, but because there were people who still had other responsibilities and activities the next day.
“These complaints are not about unhappy fans who don't want to stay up late, but rather about reasonable, responsible people who have a commitment to looking after children, working, getting their vehicles out of parking lots that close at 12:00 midnight, Andrealize that public transportation is no longer operating," he said.
In the lawsuit, it is stated that Madonna only took to the stage at 22.40 local time, even though her start time was scheduled for 20.30.
In a previous similar case, Madonna asked the court to dismiss a lawsuit filed against her in New York, citing a late concert start time.
The 65-year-old singer and Live Nation lawyer said that fans cannot take legal action over something they knew about when they bought tickets.
