– Google recently shared bad news. Through an email distributed to customers, Google announced that they would discontinue the VPN by Google One service.
The company under Alphabet did not reveal a closing date for its services. However, they informed users that VPN by Google One will be phased out by the end of this year. Especially for Pixel users who use the VPN by Google One service, the company said that VPN access will still be available. "You'll continue to enjoy VPN access from Google through your Pixel settings if you have a Pixel 7 or newer model."
Google has confirmed the removal of the VPN by Google One service. To 9to5google, the company said that they decided to remove the service because of the lack of people using the service.
By officially stopping the service, the team can focus on developing various features on Google One. This decision is also not surprising because VPN by Google One can cause losses because the service requires maintenance.
VPN by Google One was first launched in October 2022. This service was launched so that users can provide extra protection for Android devices. This application also maintains the security of data stored online.
This service can be purchased on the dedicated Google One website. Initially, VPN by Google One was priced at 9.99 US dollars (Rp. 161 thousand) per month. However, last March, Google reduced the price of the Premium package to 1.99 US dollars (Rp. 32 thousand) per month.
